Kareem’s Journey Starts!

50 years ago, on October 18th, 1969, Kareem Abdul Jabbar made his NBA debut with the Milwaukee Bucks, scoring 29 points, en route to a 119-110 win over the Detroit Pistons.

Kareem went on to become one of the greatest centers of all time. He made the sky hook his signature shot.

Kareem holds the all time record for points with 38,387 points.

Kareem was a 19x NBA All-Star, the most of any player all time.

He won 6 NBA Championships, 1 with the Milwaukee Bucks, 5 with the “showtime” LA Lakers. Kareem was also a 2x Finals MVP.

Kareem was selected to 10 All NBA 1st Teams, and 5 All NBA 2nd Team as well. He was a 5x Defensive 1st Team selection, and a 6x 2nd Team All Defense selection.

He won the Rookie of the Year Award in 1970, and was a two time scoring champion, along with a rebounding champion in 1976. He led the NBA in blocks 4 times.

His no. 33 has been retired by both the Milwaukee Bucks and the LA Lakers.

In college, Kareem won 3 NCAA Championships in a row with legendary coach John Wooden. He was named Final Four Most Outstanding Player 3 years in a row as well. As an assistant coach for the LA Lakers, he won 2 rings in 2009 and 2010.

Kareem was one of the most dominant players when he was in the league, and is perhaps the greatest center to ever play the game.

There will never again be a player like Kareem Abdul Jabbar.
