Who Is The Best #1 Overall Pick From The 2010s?
Today I will be finding the best #1 overall pick from the 2010’s.
The #1 overall pick the is the first pick in the NBA draft. The team selecting with this spot is usually bad. This pick gives this team a chance to get better by selecting one of the best young players coming into the league. They could score big, or miss the mark completely. Throughout the 2010’s there have been some great talents that have come into the NBA with the #1 overall spot. Today I will be finding the best #1 overall pick from the 2010’s.
#3 – Ben Simmons
Philadelphia 76ers – 2016 NBA Draft
Simmons was selected with the #1 overall pick in the 2016 NBA Draft, but did not make his debut until the 2017-18 season. Since coming into the league, Simmons has become one of the best passers in the NBA, using his height like Magic Johnson or Lebron James to make beautiful passes through defenders. While Simmons has his flaws shooting the ball, he is also a great defender and is still useful on offense with his playmaking abilities.
Simmons has averaged 16.4 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 8.0 assists with 1.7 steals. He has been shooting 56.1% from the field.
Simmons has been a 2x All Star and was the Rookie of the Year in 2018.
While Simmons is still very young, many have dubbed him as the next big thing in the NBA, with the potential of being a 2-way star.
#2 – Kyrie Irving
Brooklyn Nets – 2011 NBA Draft
Irving is one of the older people able to make this list, but he is still one of the most talented. Irving is one of the craftiest scorers of all time as he uses his handles to squeeze through the defense. While Irving is often criticized for his actions and sometimes lack of commitment, there is no denying that he is one of the great scorers we have seen in a while.
Irving has averaged 22.4 points and 5.7 assists. He has been shooting 46.6% from the field and 39.0% from 3.
Irving is a NBA Champion, a 6x All-Star and a All-Star Game MVP. He has been a member of both the All-NBA 2nd and 3rd Teams and was the Rookie of the Year in 2012.
Irving has been one of the most successful players selected #1 overall since 2010, and his resume speaks for himself. While many people criticize Irving, his talent is undeniable and at times he is arguably the best point guard in the NBA.
#1 – Anthony Davis
Los Angeles Lakers – 2012 NBA Draft
Ever since coming in the league in the 2012 Draft, Anthony Davis has been something else. He is an elite scorer and defender. He is one of the best big men in the NBA, and his shot blocking skills are second to none. While AD left New Orleans unpleasantly, he now has his first chance to prove himself as him and the Lakers try for a deep playoff run.
Davis has been averaging 24.0 points and 10.4 rebounds with 2.4 blocks. He is shooting 51.7% from the field and 33.5% from 3.
Davis is a 7x All-Star and the All-Star Game MVP in 2017. He is a 3x All-NBA First Team Member and a 1x member of the All-Defensive First Team. He has led the NBA in blocks 3x.
Davis has an impressive resume, but more is coming for the star forward. With Lebron James and the Lakers, championships are a reality for the star from Kentucky. But one thing is for certain, Anthony Davis is a beast.
What do you guys think about this list? What would your list include? Does Anthony Davis deserve to be at the #1 spot? Leave all of your comments down below.
