Rashard Lewis: Sweet Lew
On August 8th, 1979, Rashard Lewis was born in Pineville, Florida. He went on to be a NBA Champion, 2x All-Star, and when he was in his prime, he was a great scorer in the NBA.
Lewis went to Elsik High School in Houston, Texas. He went straight to the NBA and was selected with the 32nd overall pick in the 1998 NBA Draft by the Seattle SuperSonics. They went 25-25 in Lewis’s first season. The season was shorter because of a lockout. Things would only get better for Lewis and the SuperSonics. He got his 1st All Star appearance in 2005. In 2007, he was traded from the SuperSonics to the Orlando Magic. He got an All Star appearance with the Magic as well in 2009. They also reached the Finals that season, but they lost to Kobe Bryant and the Los Angeles Lakers. He was traded from the Magic to the Wizards in 2010. He played there for 2 seasons, until he was traded to the Hornets. The Hornets waived him and he signed a 2-year deal with the Miami Heat. He won the 2013 title with the Heat, and lost the 2014 Finals with the Heat as well. He signed with the Dallas Mavericks in 2014, but his contract was voided by the Mavericks because he failed the physical. He retired from the NBA after that season. In 2006-07, Lewis’s best season in the NBA with the SuperSonics, Lewis averaged 22.4 points, 6.6 rebounds and 1.1 steals. Pretty good numbers. Overall, Lewis won an NBA Title (2013), 2x All Star, Mr. Basketball USA (1998).
Although Lewis did not have many accomplishments, he was still a great scorer in his prime, but he had a quick exit from the NBA.
