Choosing A Direction For Every Western Conference Team!
Yesterday I picked the best direction that every eastern conference team should take. Today, we’re doing the same thing in the other conference. Most teams have the right idea on where they’re supposed to be going, but some don’t and they should probably figure it out. So here are my ideal directions that every Western Conference team should take.
Utah Jazz – Contend Because You Have To
The Jazz surprisingly dominated the regular season this year. Their main change? Hitting 3’s. They made and attempted a historic amount of 3’s and it worked. Their ball movement, hyper 3-PT, excellent defense hybrid team got them a #1 seed. But they collapsed in the 2nd round due to injuries and their poor perimeter defense leading to Terrence Mann dominating them. Their roster certainly isn’t close to being the best in the West, but there’s not a whole lot they can do to change.
Donovan Mitchell is your superstar and you signed him to a massive extension. He’s fine. Rudy Gobert, you signed him to that massive extension and he’s worth it with his elite interior defense. But he was one of the reasons you collapsed in the playoffs, as when teams play small against him, he sticks out like a sore thumb. But he is still worth the contract at the end of the day, not mad about that.
Bojan Bogdanovic was poor this past season, as he hasn’t returned to his 2019-20 form, before his wrist injury. He’s under contract for two more seasons and he’s 32 years old. Mike Conley is a free agent this summer and you’re going to have to keep him, no matter what it does to your salary situation. Jordan Clarkson, Derrick Favors, Joe Ingles, Royce O’Neale, they’re all here for the foreseeable future.
The Jazz have so much money locked up and all of those guys are valuable. So the Jazz can’t exactly just ship one of them off for cap relief. Ingles is 33 years old, don’t know how much more you’re getting out of him.
When the Jazz eventually sign Conley, that’s their team. They don’t have wing defense and they’re so reliant on hitting 3’s that when that doesn’t work, they’re kind of just like give Donovan Mitchell the ball and hopefully that works. They aren’t built to guard teams like the Clippers, Suns, Nuggets, or Lakers. They lack perimeter defense and wing defense as their defense is single handily held up by Gobert.
So the Jazz probably should rebuild with the older guys they have on their roster and kind of start fresh around Mitchell and Gobert. But they kind of can’t because all of their older guys are still key to their success and they don’t have a lot of cap flexibility. The Jazz are being forced to contend and now they’re stuck.
Phoenix Suns – Contend Because You’re Really Good
The Suns are one of the best teams in the NBA. Their roster has been carefully and perfectly put together by James Jones and Monty Williams is one of the best coaches in the NBA. The Suns are going to be good for the next few seasons, including this season where they’re currently up 2-0 in the NBA Finals. Chris Paul is very, very good at this whole leadership thing, and as long as he’s on this team, the sky’s the limit.
Chris Paul is still very good, even at the advanced age of 36 years old. He has a player option this summer that he’s likely to decline according to reports about a month ago. But with the Suns likely to win a championship or at the very least come very close to winning it, I don’t see why he would leave. It’s one of the best situations in the NBA, no reason to leave.
Devin Booker is one of the best scorers in the league and he’s been very good this postseason. He’s young and locked up long-term. Deandre Ayton has had a coming out party in the postseason as one of the best young centers in the NBA on both ends. He meshes with Paul and Booker very well, he is what the modern NBA big guy should be. Ayton is due for a big extension soon, but he’ll be well worth it.
Mikal Bridges is a very good two-way wing who played an amazing Game 2 with 27 points. He’s also going to be due for a big extension soon, but he’s also worth it. Jae Crowder is solid, he’s on the team for the next couple of seasons.
Cameron Johnson is still on his rookie deal, he’s been very good this postseason. Cameron Payne has been an incredible feel-good story, from being told he can’t play by the Bulls, to Russell Westbrook’s personnel hype-man, he’s making an impact on a championship team. He’s a free agent this summer, but I doubt he leaves the perfect situation he has in Phoenix. Dario Saric is here for the next few years, Torrey Craig is likely to stay.
The Suns have a great team that is mixed with young and old. Talent all around and they have the mold of a championship team with elite players on both sides of the ball. They have a great coach, they’re going to be in the running for championships for the next few years as long as their core stays intact.
Denver Nuggets – Contend Because Jokic Is Very Good
The Nuggets were on pace to be a title contender. Jokic was an MVP, Jamal Murray was finding his way after a slow start to the season. MPJ was blossoming and a mid-season trade for Aaron Gordon made them look formidable. But their championship aspirations were taken away with the Jamal Murray ACL tear and after a first round victory against Portland, they were swept in the 2nd round by the Phoenix Suns. But the Nuggets are still very good and they’re built for the future.
Nikola Jokic the MVP and the best center in the league. One of the best offensive guys in the league, he’s going to be a cornerstone for Denver for years to come. ACL injuries aren’t as bad as they previously were with advances in sports medicine, but we don’t know what Jamal Murray we’re getting whenever he returns. He started 2020-21 slow, but turned things up before his injury. The Nuggets need him to be Jokic’s Robin, as that duo is formidable in the Western Conference.
Michael Porter Jr had a historic 2nd season, putting up numbers and efficiencies we haven’t seen in a long, long time. He’s a pure scorer and he’s very good and young. Still a lot of growing room, he’s still going to get better and better. Aaron Gordon is on the final year of his contract in 2021-22, but he’s valuable defensively for a Nuggets team lacking defense. They’re likely going to extend the young forward, as their big 4 of Jokic-Murray-Porter Jr-Gordon is very good.
The supporting pieces are solid. Monte Morris is one of the best backups in the league. Will Barton offers scoring, but he’s also an expiring deal entering next season. Paul Millsap is a free agent this summer and he’s 36 years old. Interesting to see if he comes back this summer. JaMychal Green was a great pickup last offseason, but he’s also an expiring deal after this upcoming season.
Austin Rivers was great for Denver as a fill-in after the Murray injury, but he’s a free agent this summer. Campazzo is solid but he’s 30 years old. PJ Dozier is solid as well.
The Nuggets have a solid core featuring an MVP and Jamal Murray. MPJ has real potential and Aaron Gordon is a great complimentary piece. They have great bench guys like Morris and Barton, they just have to add some defense. They have a lot of expiring deals next season, so this team is likely going to be changing. But their window is window is wide open with their young core, they’re going to be good for a very long time in the West with this team.
LA Clippers – Contend/Blow It Up
The Clippers were two games away from the Finals, playing the final 8 games of their season without Kawhi Leonard. They got some great performances from Paul George, Reggie Jackson, and Terrence Mann, they overcame their stigma of blowing leads, actually becoming very good at coming back from series deficits. If Kawhi was healthy for the whole postseason, who knows, maybe the Clippers would have a chance to be up 2-0 in the Finals right now. Not to put a damper in the mood, but there’s a chance Kawhi leaves. Just a chance, but still possible.
Kawhi is very good at basketball. He was incredible against Dallas and if he didn’t get hurt, LA might be in the Finals right now. But Kawhi has a player option and if he declined, he would become a UFA this summer. If he accepted the player option, he would be a UFA next summer. But if he leaves after this season, the Clippers aren’t title contenders. I find it unlikely that he leaves, but there’s a chance.
Paul George isn’t going anywhere, because they traded away 7 first round picks for him. They also signed him to a multi-year extension, but he’s here for the long haul. So is Marcus Morris, Ivica Zubac, and Terrence Mann. But the rest of the team is up in the air.
Patrick Beverley is entering the final year of his contract. Reggie Jackson is a free agent this summer. You gave Luke Kennard a 3-year extension worth over $40 million, for some reason. That’s definitely a person who could be getting traded. What do you do with Rondo and Cousins? What about Serge Ibaka, who was hit hard with injuries this season? Nicolas Batum is a free agent this summer as well.
The Clippers are very good. But if Kawhi decides to leave, this team is older and doesn’t have much of a future outside of Terance Mann. Now, Kawhi is unlikely to leave this summer, but they still have to fill out this roster. Bringing back guys like Jackson and Batum, maybe adding some more veterans like Rondo. Maybe trading Kennard for some more depth. The Clippers are title contenders with Kawhi. Without him? Can’t say the same.
Dallas Mavericks – Contend While Making Luka Happy
The Mavericks pushed the LA Clippers to the limit, with Luka Doncic putting on another spectacular show. But he just didn’t get enough help and now they’re rumblings that he’s unhappy. Dallas doesn’t have draft picks this year because of the Porzingis trade, which gets worse and worse by the day. Rick Carlisle and Donnie Nelson are gone and now Dallas’s defensive assistant, Jamahl Mosley, is likely headed to Orlando. The Mavericks need to build a coaching staff, a new roster, and compete in the West while also keeping their generational talent happy.
Luka Doncic is good. Yeah, that sums it up. He has that Lebron-gene where he can just carry you to the playoffs every year. But unless you want him to leave for South Beach, I suggest you get him help.
Kristaps Porzingis is weird. I feel like he’s very talented but his injuries have slowed him down. He’s allergic to the paint and he just kind of stands on the perimeter as a 7’3″ spot-up shooter. Before his ACL injury, he used to attack the rim, get putback dunks, he was aggressive. Don’t know where that’s gone. But Dallas is paying him $30+ million for each of the next 3 seasons. Yikes.
Tim Hardaway Jr is streaky, but he’s good, perhaps the best part of the Porzingis deal. Hardaway is a UFA this summer and Dallas needs to try and bring him back. Jalen Brunson is very good, so is Dorian Finney-Smith. Maxi Kleber is solid, but other than that it’s not much. Josh Richardson was a bust and he’s likely going to accept his player option for this season. That trade to get him in exchange for Seth Curry was so bad.
Dwight Powell is getting paid a lot more than he should, you’re paying him $11 million per year for the next two seasons. Josh Green didn’t play much as a rookie this past season, neither did Tyrell Terry. Maybe they get playing time in the future. The Mavs desperately need interior defense. If they could get Nerlens Noel or Richuan Holmes, they would be a lot better.
Some wing/perimeter defense would also help. Tony Snell? Stanley Johnson? TJ McConnell? Alex Caruso? Jeff Green? All of these guys would help the Mavs a lot.
The Mavs have their magnum opus in Luka Doncic. Now it’s time to build him a team and win. They need to bring back Hardaway this offseason and decide what to do with Porzingis. They might need to trade guys like Powell or Josh Richardson for better options and they’re going to need to be aggressive. The time is ticking before Luka needs that mega-contract. This is their chance to build the best possible team around him.
Portland Trail Blazers – Contend While Being Aggressive To Make Dame Happy
Oh where to start. The Blazers are a mess, no way around it. There are ways to fix my team, but we aren’t winning a title in the Dame era, unfortunately. We just weren’t aggressive enough and then we made some dumb decisions, like giving Evan Turner and Allen Crabbe massive contracts. But the Blazers can definitely get better this offseason if they’re aggressive, hopefully keeping Dame happy in the process.
Dame isn’t going anywhere, just putting that out there. The rest of the team needs work. CJ McCollum has to go. He was outplayed by Austin Rivers in the playoffs and this duo has found it’s ceiling. It’s time to trade him. My dream trade would be CJ for Harrison Barnes. That trade works, maybe the Kings send like a future FRP or something. Barnes would help a lot, give us a different look.
In that situation, with CJ out the door, we would need to re-sign Norman Powell this offseason. I don’t care about the Luxury Tax, bring him back. He’s very good, Dame-Norman-Harrison Barnes sounds nice.
Robert Covington and Nurkic are fine. I don’t know why people want to trade Nurkic, he’s one of our only decent defenders. I don’t care that he gets injured all the time, we desperately need him. We do need a better backup than Kanter or Collins, so maybe Nerlens Noel? Don’t bring back Collins, sorry to say but injuries have ruined him. I don’t want Carmelo back, he’s a liability.
Derrick Jones Jr should be traded. He’s going to accept his PO this summer, so he can be used in a trade. Enes Kanter, get him out of here. Useless. Play Nassir Little more, he has potential.
So in my dream scenario, here is our lineup next year;

I like this team a lot more, Dame is the only star player and we have a lot better defense and complimentary pieces. I didn’t want Billups for coach, I wanted Hammond but whatever. Hopefully she gets a chance somewhere else. Chauncey better be good at defense, because that’s all I want. I want a top-10 defense more than anything, I can live with the offense being ok. We can’t be good with a bottom-3 defense again.
Now, all of this isn’t going to happen. I doubt we’re trading CJ and I’m not 100% sure Norman is coming back. This team will remain mediocre and I will be sad. Nothing new, I guess.
LA Lakers – Contend Because Lebron Is Getting Older
The Lakers didn’t win the championship because they didn’t get 5 months off to rest and heal, and they didn’t get to face easy teams on the way to a title. Pretty hard to win a title when once in a lifetime circumstances come at you? The Lakers aren’t that good. AD is fragile as ever and Lebron showed us he was human for the first time, ever. The roster around them isn’t great and now the clock is ticking for another ring.
Lebron James is still good but you’re going to have to give him a little bit more than you normally would given his old age. Now watch him prove me and most others wrong again. The easiest answer to giving Lebron more relief is Anthony Davis. AD just hasn’t been able to stay healthy and he was pretty bad in 2021 because of it. He needs to be healthy and aggressive.
Then there’s Dennis Schroder. Schroder was decent during the regular season but he was a flop in the playoffs and now he wants a big, $100-120 million dollar contract. He turned down a $84 million dollar extension from the Lakers. Now while Schroder really isn’t worth the money, the Lakers don’t have a lot of other options. Kyle Lowry in free agency could be one, but that’s about it. They could have traded for Lowry mid-season but apparently they didn’t want to give up Talen Horton-Tucker. Nice.
So while Schroder wants too much money, the Lakers might have to give him that contract or risk losing him. But other than those 3 guys, the Lakers don’t have much. KCP is ok but he’s being paid a lot for what he is. Kyle Kuzma isn’t good and his new extension which starts next year is an overpay for a forward with a very large ego.
Andre Drummond is beyond horrible, even if he thinks he’s Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (literally the weirdest sentence ever). Marc Gasol is old. Montrezl Harrell is also beyond horrible defensively. Markieff Morris is just there. Wesley Matthews was a flop signing. Alex Caruso is a free agent this summer.
The Lakers aren’t that good. Most of their players are older, they don’t have a center who can play defense, their point guard wants too much money but they probably have to pay him what he wants, Lebron is getting older, and AD is made of glass. The Lakers have to be perfect this offseason with trades, signing, using their first round pick. They have to transform this team with shooting and defense. Because they aren’t one of the best teams in the West. There are a lot of other, better teams like Phoenix, Denver, and Utah. They’d better patch things up here in the offseason.
Memphis Grizzlies – Go For It Because You’re Young and Good
The Grizzlies have quietly built one of the best young cores in the NBA over the past few seasons. Their crown jewel is Ja Morant, but the have so much depth and talent, they’re close to becoming a great team in the Western Conference. Now it’s just time for them to develop and ascend in the West.
Ja Morant is great. He was amazing in the play-in and playoffs, his aggressive driving ability and playmaking making him the franchise cornerstone. Best of all? He already has a lot of help. Dillon Brooks is the scrappy defender/shooter who can get hot very quickly. Kyle Anderson aka Slow-Mo is a solid forward on both ends. Jonas Valanciunas is a rebounding monster down low. Jaren Jackson Jr can stretch the floor and it very athletic.
Desmond Bane is a very good shooter. So is Grayson Allen. Brandon Clarke is a very talented, young forward whose playing time dipped this past season. Xavier Tillman is a very solid backup big, one of the best rookies from this past season. De’Anthony Melton is solid on both ends.
The Grizzlies also have Taylor Jenkins, a great, young coach. The Grizzlies have so much talent, that injuries really shouldn’t be a concern for them in the future. Most of their players are on rookie contracts, they are very deep and young. They have one of the brightest futures in the NBA, now it’s just time to win.
Golden State Warriors – Go For It Because Everybody Is Getting Older
Steph Curry dragged the Warriors all season long, but even his historic magic couldn’t lead the top-heavy Warriors to the playoffs. With Curry and Green only getting older and injuries slowing down Klay Thompson, the Warriors window to contend is closing rapidly. If they truly want to win another championship, they’re going to have to make moves and fast.
Curry and Draymond are safe. We don’t know what Klay Thompson we’re going to see after two season ending injuries in a row, but him hopefully coming back in 2022 is great for basketball and the Warriors. But the Warriors need to add talent and it’s probably going to be by trade.
Andrew Wiggins became a great two-way wing for the Warriors last season and his trade value is at an all-time high. Perhaps he gets traded or they use him as a 3rd option behind Steph and Klay. James Wiseman is definitely somebody who has to get traded. I feel bad for him. Didn’t play much in college and immediately goes to the Warriors who have high expectations and he doesn’t meet them. He’s still developing and showed signs of being a great player. But he has a lot of trade value and if the Warriors really want to win now, he’s a guy who could go.
Kelly Oubre Jr. was very disappointing with the Warriors this past season and he’s a free agent this summer. Likely he doesn’t comeback. The Warriors also have the 7th pick (thanks Minnesota) and the 14th pick. So they have Wiggins, Wiseman, and two lottery picks to add to their talent pool.
Jordan Poole was very good for them and so was Juan Toscano-Anderson. But the Warriors don’t have a lot of depth and I doubt they’re using their lottery picks simply because I don’t think they can wait for those guys to develop. Their Big 3 is only getting older and it is a shame they likely can’t use Wiseman, but that’s the reality of things for the Warriors.
San Antonio Spurs – Just Pick A Direction
The Spurs need a direction. They have decent young pieces but they are just kind of average. They aren’t great at one thing, they don’t have an identity. They either need to fully rebuild or fully go all in. I’m in favor of the former, but they just need to pick one.
They have good young players. Dejounte Murray is a great two-way guard. Keldon Johnson has potential as a slashing forward. Derrick White and Lonnie Walker are solid. Jakob Poeltl is a very good defender down low. Devin Vassell was decent as a rookie last year. They have young guys, I just don’t know if they’re going to full rebuild with Popovich.
DeMar DeRozan is almost 100% leaving in free agency. He wants to go to a winning place and right now and currently, the Spurs aren’t a place for winning.
Like I said, the Spurs have one foot in either door. They aren’t getting better because they aren’t a free agent destination and they aren’t getting a top-5 pick in the draft. They have to just go for a rebuild and try and get back to their winning ways. They just have to choose a direction instead of of passively trying to be good and rebuild at the same time.
New Orleans Pelicans – Contend While Making Zion Happy
The Pelicans were disappointments this past seasons for many reasons. They picked the wrong coach in Stan Van Gundy who has since been fired after just one season. But most importantly, their roster construction around Zion was awful. They gave Steven Adams a two-year extension for some reason. Eric Bledsoe doesn’t give you floor spacing. The team wasn’t well put together and now there are rumblings that Zion is unhappy. Time’s ticking New Orleans. Better get good and fast.
Zion and Ingram are great. All-Star duo, they’re fine. I suggest they bring back Lonzo Ball this offseason, the strides he’s made as a shooter have been great. This adds to what he does as a passer and defender, he should be their franchise point guard.
They have other nice pieces like Josh Hart, who they should also look to keep this offseason. Kira Lewis Jr looked solid as a rookie. Jaxson Hayes is a decent young center. But other than that, the Pelicans need shooting. Nickeil Alexander-Walker is decent as well, related to Shai and that’s always cool
Steven Adams. Eric Bledsoe. Please leave. With Zion being a paint dominant player, they need to give him a lot of space. Steven Adams just sits down low, clogging up the paint. People are ok with Eric Bledsoe shooting, so no spacing their either. The Pelicans need to add shooting. Those two guys shouldn’t be on the team next year and they also have the #10 overall pick if they want to use that as well.
They just need to add shooting, they need a center who fits what Zion does, and they need to find a coach. Not the biggest bucket list for an offseason ever. They need to make a team that fits around Zion and Ingram better so they can actually hope to be successful next season. With Zion (apparently) being unhappy, you definitely don’t want another AD situation. Time for the Pelicans to make some moves.
Sacramento Kings – Go For It Because You Haven’t Won In So Long
The Kings haven’t been good in a long time and they likely won’t continue to be good because Luke Walton is their coach. They have talent, certainly enough talent to be decent, but they just won’t fire Luke Walton even after their disappointing past season.
De’Aaron Fox showed he was an All-Star level player, well deserving of the max contract that he got. Tyrese Haliburton was the steal of the draft, he’s going to be very good alongside Fox for the future. Richuan Holmes is a great complimentary center, but he’s a free agent this summer. I would highly recommend that the Kings try and keep him this offseason. Harrison Barnes is a great two-way wing.
Delon Wright is decent. So is Terrence Davis, but he’s a RFA this summer. I would look to keep him. Marvin Bagley is looking like a bust. Drafted ahead of Luka Doncic in 2018, he had injuries slow him down but now his dad takes to Twitter, saying how the Kings should play his son more. I doubt Bagley stays on the team long-term, he just hasn’t worked out.
What the Kings lack is defense. They were the worst defense last season, a historically bad one in fact. They can use their top 10 pick in this year’s draft to help them but they can also do some work themselves. I would trade Buddy Hield. Haliburton and Fox worked well as a duo as Hield is only valuable when he shoots well. He doesn’t give you anything defensively and I think that you can get decent value for shooting in the NBA.
Most of all, I would fire Luke Walton. He was only good as the interim head coach for the 2016 Warriors, he coached them for like half the season when Steve Kerr had that back surgery or something. But he was bad with the Lakers and he hasn’t been good with the Kings. Don’t know why they’re keeping him as a coach for a 3rd straight season.
The Kings have got some decent young talent. They just need some defense but I just don’t like their coach. Luke Walton is awful and I don’t know why he’s a coach. The Kings could be good, but they’re the Kings so don’t expect too much from them.
Minnesota Timberwolves – Go For It Because You Also Haven’t Won In So Long
The T-Wolves are in a similar boat to the Kings, maybe a little bit better. That haven’t been relevant since Kevin Garnett left for Boston and now they finally have a decent team. Now it’s time for them to be good. They got a new coach in Chris Finch and now they can, maybe, finally be decent (unlikely, they’re the worst franchise in NBA history).
The talent is there. When healthy, Karl-Anthony Towns is one of the best offensive weapons in the NBA. He can score from everywhere, he’s lethal. His initials are also cool. Anthony Edwards exploded in the 2nd half of the season, showing why he was the #1 overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft. He’s going to be a great scorer for years to come.
D’Angelo Russell was also hit with injuries last season, but he was very good to end the year off the bench for Minnesota. He’s likely to be the starter starting next year, but he might be their 6th man. Malik Beasley is a very good scorer when he isn’t in off the court trouble, he is another solid guard for the T-Wolves.
Then you have so much young talent. Naz Reid is a great backup to KAT. Ricky Rubio is the steady-handed veteran PG. Jarred Vanderbilt is a solid defensive wing prospect. Jaylen Nowell showed prowess as a scorer. Jarrett Culver hasn’t been a bust, more disappointing. But before getting injured this past season, he’s a solid defender. Josh Okogie is a great defender.
The T-Wolves have a competent team. Lots of young talent, they are ready to win. I think Chris Finch is a good coach, we’ll see how he does over the course of a whole season. Now let’s just see how the Timberwolves disappoint us this season.
OKC Thunder – Take As Long As You Want With Those Picks
The Thunder are a simple team. They have a rising star in Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. They have young pieces like Darius Bazley, Aleksej Pokusevski, Theo Maledon, Lu Dort, and Isaiah Roby. But most importantly, they have picks and picks and picks and picks and picks. Did I mention they have picks?
They traded away PG, CP-3, Westbrook, all of those guys to accumulate an absolute haul. They have 36 draft picks over the next 7 years, 18 first round picks and 18 2nd round picks. They have the 6th pick, the 16th pick, and the 18th pick in this year’s draft. The 16th pick is from the Kemba Walker deal and Boston and the 18th pick is from Miami.
But they have 36 picks over 7 years. They can trade for, draft, do whatever they want really. I am really excited to see what Sam Presti can do next. He’s drafted 3 straight MVPs and now he has a chance to do something similar with all of these picks.
Houston Rockets – Rebuild Because You Have Nothing
The Rockets are getting this rebuild off to a great start. They got their hands on Caris Levert. Great, young player who has his contract set for the next few seasons. Hard to come by nowadays. You should probably keep him. Or not, trade him for Victor Oladipo. The guy who still thinks he’s worth a max contract and he is a free agent this summer. You end up going from Levert to Oladipo, then trade Oladipo for Kelly Olynyk and Avery Bradley. God the Rockets are stupid.
Anyway, it’s rebuild time in Houston. Christian Wood was a great signing in free agency. Even if he can’t play defense, he’s good offensively, very versatile. John Wall is old and on that horrible contract, but he’s ok I guess. Jae’Sean Tate was one of the best rookies this past season, solid player.
Kevin Porter Jr had mental health struggles with the Cavs, who gave him up for nothing and then he dropped 50 points against the Bucks this season. Safe to say he’s back to form. Really talented player, should be key for the Rockets going forward. Other than that, there isn’t much. The #2 overall pick should give them somebody really good, likely Evan Mobley.
The Rockets rebuild got off to a rocky start, I’ll cut them some slack, they haven’t been bad in a while. But now it’s time for them to add some young talent. They have a really good coach in Stephen Silas who had a very chaotic first season, but the Rockets can officially start their rebuild the right way and get back into contention in the next few seasons.
