Bucks Tie Series With Irving Out! Are The Suns Real Contenders? 6.13.21

It’s another day of NBA playoff action and we have two games today, both game 4’s.

(2) Brooklyn Nets vs (3) Milwaukee Bucks

Brooklyn Nets (2-2)

Injuries suck so much man. This series was supposed to be so good and James Harden literally played 43 seconds and now Kyrie is hurt. Wish injuries weren’t a thing. But Kyrie left in the 2nd quarter and then the Nets offense was terrible in the 2nd half without him. KD was getting so much pressure thrown at him and he didn’t have a safety valve or another ball-handler to help him.

If Irving is out for the rest of the series, the Nets don’t have a lot of room for adjustments. They can’t allow the Bucks to make 3’s and they have to shut down Middleton and Holiday. They have to get KD good looks. KD has to be KD, one of the best scorers ever. KD had success getting to the line, so maybe drawing fouls is a way out for him.

But if there’s only KD, you need a big night from Harris, Green, James, Shamet, somebody. You’re going to need somebody to step up, otherwise the Nets are doomed to fail offensively. The Bucks can just load up on KD and live with any other Net (excluding Harris) making open shots.

If the Nets aren’t healthy, I don’t see them winning this series. Really as simple as that. Hopefully Harden can come back or maybe Irving’s injury isn’t too serious, but it’s not looking good for the Nets right now as the series is tied.

Milwaukee Bucks (2-2)

The Bucks dominated the 2nd half without Irving on the floor as they took advantage. Their defense on KD was excellent, smothering him, not giving him any airspace. The offense wasn’t great, but good enough.

The Bucks hit 11 3’s in the first half, which was more than any game in the series so far. Giannis had 34-12, Middleton and Holiday were solid and PJ Tucker chipped in 13. The Bucks have turned the tide in this series as now they are in control. If the Nets aren’t healthy, they should be winning this series.

(2) Phoenix Suns vs (3) Denver Nuggets

Phoenix Suns (4-0)

The Suns are scary. They won this game like they did the first 3, on the back of their elite backcourt and defense. Jokic was ejected in the 3rd and the defense was solid throughout. The offense was lethal. Chris Paul hit mid-range shot after mid-range shot for 37 points on 74% shooting. Booker added 34 points and 11 rebounds. The Suns dominated this series as they head back to the Western Conference Finals for the first time since 2010.

This team has everything. They have been the best defense so far this postseason, their backcourt has been awesome. The supporting cast featuring Ayton and Bridges have also been great. They have length, scoring, veteran leadership, and a great coaching staff. This team is very well-rounded and in my opinion, they are the best team in the West.

They will get a lot of rest before the WCF between either the Clippers or Jazz. Chris Paul will get back to 100% if he wasn’t already there as the Suns are on the doorstep of the NBA Finals.

Denver Nuggets (0-4)

If they had Jamal Murray, this series would be so good. But Denver was just undermanned and it didn’t help that Jokic got ejected in the 3rd quarter. They fought until the very end, but this team needs more depth, scoring, and defense going into next season. Hopefully whenever Murray returns he can be what he was before the injury. But it’s clear Denver needs more.

Still a very good season, MVP for Jokic, but they just didn’t have enough guys to compete in this series. Interesting to see what the offseason holds for this team.
