Chris Mullin: The M in TMC
Chris Mullin was was on July 30th, 1963 in New York City. Mullin went on to be a 5x All-Star, All-NBA caliber player and one of the best guards/forwards during the 90’s.
Mullin went to 4 years of college at St. Johns (1981-1985). He was drafted with the 7th overall pick by the Golden State Warriors. He played for the Warriors and Pacers over his 16 year playing career. His best season was in 1988-89 with the Warriors when he averaged 26.5 points and 5.9 rebounds. Mullin averaged 18.2 points for his career, ended up being a 5x All-Star, All NBA First Team (1992), 2x All NBA 2nd Team and All NBA Third Team (1990). He was inducted to the Hall of Fame in 2011 in both College Basketball Hall of Fame and the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.
Mullin was one of the best forward/guard players in the league during the 90’s, especially during the run TMC days with Mitch Richmond and Tim Hardaway. They were a fast paced, high scoring group, very similar to some teams that we see in today’s NBA. Unfortunately, they never made any deep playoff runs. In today’s NBA, that type of team would make sense and fit in pretty well, as long as the whole team shot more 3’s.
Chris Mullin had a great career as a scorer and was a very solid player, never getting lots of awards, but always getting the job done for his team.
