Crazy Games Around The Association!; Steph Curry Is Another Level! 4.19.21

It’s a Monday night of NBA basketball and we have 9 games on the schedule tonight.

Cleveland Cavaliers vs Detroit Pistons

Cleveland Cavaliers

Losing, again.

Detroit Pistons

The Pistons nearly blew this game. They led 32-9 in the first quarter thanks to 6 3’s from Saddiq Bey in the first quarter. But the Cavs slowly got back into the game and it got down to the wire. After 1,000,000 fouls and reviews, the Pistons were able to pull out the win thanks to 4 straight points from Frank and Josh Jackson (not related).

Chicago Bulls vs Boston Celtics

Defense

The Bulls defense won them this game, holding a red-hot Celtics team to under 100 points. Patrick Williams did a great job on the wing against Tatum and Vucevic led the way with 29. Coby White had 19 points and 7 assists as he finally played well. Great effort all around for the Bulls.

Tatum

Settling again. Tatum was 3/17 from the field, as he wasn’t getting to the rim as much. He only shot 4 3’s but he was horrible scoring wise. But he got his first career triple double with 10 assists and 13 rebounds. Brown led the way with 23 points but with no Fournier, Walker, Williams, and essentially Tatum scoring wise, Boston struggled late. I just hope this team can get healthy and continue the play the way they have been playing.

Golden State Warriors vs Philadelphia 76ers

Hail Curry

This is Steph Curry’s world and we’re all just living in it. This guy is incredible, it’s absolutely unbelievable what he’s doing. 49 points with 10 3’s, another jaw-dropping display in the city of brotherly love. He’s made 46 3’s in his last 5 games and it’s his 21st career game with 10+ 3’s. What is going on? Golden State is not a team I would want to face right now, simply because of this man.

Steph Curry Last 5 Games:
44.8 pts per game
9.2 3’s per game
55% 3-PT

Philadelphia 76ers

There’s a new sheriff in town Embiid.

San Antonio Spurs vs Indiana Pacers

San Antonio Spurs

Winning in April, a rarity for the Spurs.

Indiana Pacers

Without Sabonis this was an awful offensive game. Everybody struggled and the shooting was awful, just 8/34 from deep. The Pacers are going to need Sabonis for these last 15 games if they want to make the play-in.

Houston Rockets vs Miami Heat

Houston Rockets

Losing by 20+ points to a team without Adebayo and Butler. Nice.

Miami Heat

Winning by 20+ points without Adebayo and Butler. Nice.

OKC Thunder vs Washington Wizards

OKC Thunder

Losing, again.

Washington Wizards

30 for Beal, triple-double for Russ. All is normal as Washington has won 5 straight.

Phoenix Suns vs Milwaukee Bucks

Big Game

The Suns have a brutal stretch vs Eastern Conference teams coming up and they got a big win. The game was back and forth throughout, each team just exchanging runs. Devin Booker tied the game and then the Suns got a stop. But Booker missed the potential game-winner and we headed to OT. It seemed like the Suns would pull away, up 6 against the Giannis-less Bucks. But Milwaukee hit some 3’s to tie the game and the Suns gave it to Booker for the win. He raised up for the left wing shot and he got bumped, sold it, and drew the foul. Again, I don’t think it’s a foul in that context, but it’s a foul nonetheless. Booker hit a free throw and Phoenix won.

24-7-7 for Booker, 22-7-13 for CP-3, 20 and 13 for Ayton, 21 from Bridges. 25 from Johnson and Payne off the bench. The Suns relied heavily on their Big 3 plus Mikal Bridges and got some good bench production. The Suns take on Philly, Boston, Brooklyn, the Clippers, and Jazz between now and the end of the month. They are a great team, but they are going to be tested.

Tough

The Bucks were in this game for a while. Back and forth back and forth it went. Devin Booker tied the game and then he missed, meaning we went to OT. But Giannis, who had been dominating, got hurt and missed the final 4 minutes of the game. The Bucks managed to hit some 3’s to get back into the game, a Khris Middleton 3 with 22.1 seconds left tying the game. But Devin Booker was fouled with 0.3 seconds left and the Bucks lost. Personally I think it was a foul, but I don’t think it’s the type of foul you call with the game on the line. It wasn’t like somebody slapped somebody, it was getting in somebody’s airspace. A foul? Yes. Tough way to end a great game? Also yes.

But the Bucks certainly hope their MVP is fine as he looked to be in considerable pain with what seemed to be a lower leg injury.

Memphis Grizzlies vs Denver Nuggets

This game was crazy, two OT’s, back and forth. Going over it together is the only right thing to do.

4th QTR:
Denver kept trying to comeback but the Grizzlies kept holding their lead. With 3:52 left the Grizzlies led 114-102, it should have been game over. But the Nuggets went on a 14-2 run and two Jokic free throws with 20 seconds left tied the game at 116. Grayson Allen got a great corner 3 for the win, but he missed and we headed to OT.

First OT:
The first OT was back and forth, but with 2:09 left Memphis led by 5. But a Jokic jumper and Barton 3 with 12.8 seconds left tied the game. To end the game the Grizzlies gave it to Morant. Morant got caught between a shot and a pass at the end and missed the floater. His tip-in was off and we headed to Double OT.

Second OT:
The Grizzlies fell behind by 4 early but responded and let by 3 with 2:14 left. MPJ tied the game on a 3 and 5 straight Jokic points put the Nuggets up 3. PJ Dozier iced the game at the line, ending an incredible back and forth game.

Memphis Grizzlies

36 points, 8 rebounds, and 12 assists for Morant who was great without Brooks and Valanciunas. 24 for Grayson Allen, 18 points and 14 rebounds for rookie Xavier Tillman. De’Anthony Melton had 25 off the bench. The Grizzlies played their hears out, but they came up just short.

Denver Nuggets

47 points, 15 rebounds, and 8 assists for Jokic. 20/31 shooting as he is clearly the MVP, there’s not other way around it. (I’ve been saying that from the start). 28 for Will Barton and 21 for MPJ. 3 guys in double figures off the bench. 3 straight wins for the Nuggets who have been great since the devastating Murray injury.

Utah Jazz vs LA Lakers

Utah Jazz

The Jazz got Favors, Conley, and Gobert back. They dominated as they should. Moving on.

LA Lakers

The Lakers desperately need Lebron and AD back.
