Ernest Vandeweghe: Kiki Vandeweghe
Kiki Vandeweghe was born on August 1st, 1958 in Wiesbaden, Germany. He went on to be a 2x All Star, a great scoring forward, and one of the first great German players in the NBA.
Kiki went to 4 years of college at UCLA for 4 years (1976-1980). He was picked with the 11th pick in the 1980 NBA Draft by the Dallas Mavericks, but he did not want to play in Dallas, so he wanted a trade and got one, to the Denver Nuggets. He played for 3 other teams, the Blazers, Knicks and Clippers. In his best season in 1983-84, he averaged 29.4 points and 4.8 rebounds. Although his career accomplishments are not very long, a 2x All-Star, First Team All-Pac 10 (1980), and 2nd Team All-Pac (1979). He scored 20 or more points 7 of the 14 seasons he was in the NBA.
Kiki was a great scoring forward in the 80’s, and although he doesn’t have the awards to show it, he was a great player.
