Everybody Is Getting Blown Out; Embiid Returns For Philly! 4.3.21

It’s a Saturday night of NBA hoops and we have 8 games on the schedule tonight.

Dallas Mavericks vs Washington Wizards

Domination

This Mavs team was missing Richardson and Porzingis and they still dominated. Luka had 26-8-6, a pretty pedestrian night. But all 5 starters were in double figures and Nico Melli was very good. He might carve out a bigger role here than he had in New Orleans. Jalen Brunson continues to be one of my favorite players as he had 19 off the bench. The Mavs offense has been great lately and their defense is improved from last here. Here come the Mavs.

Washington Wizards

No Beal and no Hachimura was a death sentence for the Wizards offense.

New York Knicks vs Detroit Pistons

Pure Domination

The Knicks dominated this game from the jump, as they should.

Yikes

Let’s not talk about it.

Cleveland Cavaliers vs Miami Heat

A For Effort

Hey, Sexton and Okoro were good. Look on the bright side.

Control

The Heat led for essentially led for this whole game as their offense was a well oiled machine. 7 guys were in double figures and Victor Oladipo was terrible. All is normal.

Minnesota T-Wolves vs Philadelphia 76ers

A For Effort

The T-Wolves trailed for most of this game but they kept staying with it after falling down by double-digits. But their problem late was they just couldn’t get stops. Towns had an amazing day with 39 points,14 rebounds, and 5 assists. He was very good in the Embiid v Towns battle. Edwards had 27 and that was about it. Close but no cigar.

Joel “Free Throws” Embiid

This isn’t a shot at Embiid or anything, but he gets a lot of fouls. He was 12/17 from the line and finished with 24 points. That’s half his points. Tobias Harris stole the show with a 32-point night on 13/17 shooting. Simmons, Curry, and Milton were solid but now the 76ers have their MVP candidate (no longer frontrunner) in Embiid. They held down the fort without him and now they try and reclaim that #1 seed from the Nets.

Indiana Pacers vs San Antonio Spurs

Indiana Pacers

No Brogdon, no Sabonis, no problem. Without their two All-Star caliber players the Pacers kept fighting. They built a lead in the 2nd quarter but lost that in the 3rd. The Pacers got back into the game with some a McConnell spark and they led by 5 with under 2 minutes to go in the 4th. But 5 straight Spurs points got them to tie the game but it went to OT when DeRozan missed at the buzzer. In OT it was more McConnell magic as his jumper put them up 4. A Myles Turner block sealed the game as Indiana got a very impressive win on the road.

Caris Levert was good with 26 points and 9 assists as he got back on track. Edmond Sumner had 15 and Myles Turner had 4 blocks. Aaron Holiday had 18 off the bench but TJ McConnell again stole the show. 18 points, 7 rebounds, and 8 assists for the little guy as he was excellent in the 4th and OT.

San Antonio Spurs

Losing to TJ McConnell and a team missing two All-Star caliber players. Nice.

Orlando Magic vs Utah Jazz

Yikes

Stop, Stop, He’s Already Dead

The Jazz dominated this game from the tip, hitting 18 3’s in the first half. They finished with 26 and won by 46. 6 guys were in double figures as this was the Jazz that I was looking for.

OKC Thunder vs Portland Trail Blazers

Yikes

Pure Domination

Good bounce back after the Bucks game.

Milwaukee Bucks vs Sacramento Kings

No Giannis, No Problem

After a historic performance last night, Giannis got the night off and Milwaukee still won. Jrue Holiday had 33 points, 7 rebounds, 11 assists, and 3 steals. He has been amazing lately and showing why the Bucks got him. Brook Lopez missed two shots and was 11/13 from the field. Bobby Portis had 18 off the bench as the offense had no problem scoring against the Kings defense. The Bucks have been rapidly picking things up as they try and keep pace with the Nets and 76ers in the top of the East.

A For Effort

The Kings defense again held them back but they trailed by double digits in the 4th. But they got back into the game and made it close. But they kept going for layups when they were down 4 and the Bucks just hit free throws. Should have been going for 3’s. Anyway it’s a tough loss.

Fox had 27 points and 6 assists in a great bounce back game. Terrence Davis had 27 off the bench and sparked that 4th quarter run. Hield had 19 and Haliburton had 11 assists. The Kings defense just holds this team back. Luke Walton needs to be replaced with Kenny Atkinson, please, please, please.
