Game 7 2013 NBA Finals Spurs vs Heat

On this day, June 21st, Lebron James won his first ever NBA Championship against the Oklahoma City Thunder. We are documenting some of James’s greatest games and moments.

After Ray Allen had forced overtime in Game 6 with his miraculous 3, and the Heat managing to win, it set up Game 7 of the NBA Finals, between Lebron and Miami who were looking for the back-to-back titles and the veteran Spurs who were look for the disruption.

James started the game getting a nice pass from Chris Bosh underneath and laying it up and in. Wade drove into the middle and kicked it out to James who drove in and got fouled. James would hit both free throws. After a missed shot, James was dribbling it up. James got near the paint and kicked it out to Wade in the short right corner. Wade took one dribble and knocked down the mid-range. James and Miami were up and running and James attacked into the paint, got held down threw it up and got the bounce. He knocked down the free throw, giving him 7. They were playing off of James, daring him too shot. He dribbled into the 3 and knocked it down from the top of the key, giving him 10 and Miami a 33-27 lead in the 2nd quarter. James found himself again wide open in the right corner, and drilled another one. He had 13 and Miami was up 39-37. Wade missed a jumper, and James had Tony Parker on his back. He grabbed the rebound with one hand and tipped it back up and in. James had 15 and Miami had tied the game 44-44. After a wild sequence, Bosh found James wide open in the right corner. James knocked down his 3rd 3 pointer, giving him 18 and Miami a 51-48 lead. Danny Green threw it away, and Miami was again on the break. Miller threw it to James at half court who threw it to Wade who had an easy dunk. Ray Allen was coming off a screen towards the middle and kicked it back out to James on the left wing. James took the no hesitation 3, giving him 21 and his 4th 3 pointer. James back in the same spot as last time, took the 3, knocked it down, giving him 24 and his 5th 3 pointer. James and the Heat were up 62-57 at this point. Jame attacked from the left wing towards the middle and drew the foul. He would make both free throws giving him 26. James attacked down hill and found himself wide open for a top of the key mid-range. He drilled it, giving him 28 and cutting the lead to 1, 67-66. At the start of the 4th quarter, James kicked it out to Battier in the right corner for 3. He made the contested 3, pushing the lead to 4, 75-71. Battier was 5/5 from 3 with that one. Dwayne Wade missed the left baseline jumper, Bird-man Anderson got the board and passed it back to Wade who was cutting to the hoop. Wade missed the slam and the ball went straight to James. James went up and was fouled. He would make 1/2 from the line, giving him 29. James was isolated on the right wing against Tim Duncan, pulled up from mid-range and drilled it. He had 31 and the Heat were up by 6, 83-77. James was again isolated against Duncan, this time of the left wing. James dribbled left and hit the pull up mid-range. He had 33 and gave Miami a 85-79 lead. After Chalmers stole the ball, he gave it to James who started the break. James sidestepped and was met by 2 defenders, but kicked it out to Battier in the left corner for a wide open 3. He drilled it, Mike Breen said “BANG,” and he gave the Heat a 88-82 lead. With 53.4 seconds left, the Heat were up 2, 90-88. Duncan missed 2 open shots at the rim and Miami secured the ball. With 32.0 seconds left, James, who was on the left wing, got a screen from Chalmers and he dribbled across the top of the key. He stopped at the right elbow and sinked the dagger with 27.9 seconds left. James had 35 to this point and he gave the Heat a 92-88 lead. After Ginobli committed a turnover, James got the ball and was fouled with 23.5 seconds left. James hit both free throws, giving him 37 on the night and giving Miami a 6 point lead, 94-88. Wade hit 1/2 from the line, but the Heat got the ball and ran out the clock. The Heat won 95-88, and had deafeated the Spurs 4-3 in the NBA Finals. They came back from down 3-2 and won 2 huge home games to win their 2nd title in a row. Lebron James had 37 points and 12 rebounds, and was named Finals MVP for the 2nd year in a row. James average 25.3 points, almost 11 rebounds, 7 assists during the series.
