Team Starting To Return To Facilities

The Blazers, Nuggets, and Cavaliers announced that they were going to open their practice facilities on Friday. This was the day that the NBA announced that all teams were able to return to their facilities, with some restrictions. The Lakers said that they might come back in the near future. The Rockets were also going to return on Friday, but people in the Texas government made some restrictions, so the Rockets cannot return to their facilities this Friday.

This is a step in the right direction for the league returning, but only 3 teams are back so far. But, nonetheless, it is a good step.

Mike D’Antoni Out As Houston Coach?

Rumors are arising that Mike D’Antoni of the Houston Rockets is not likely to coach next season for the team. A report arouse that D’Antoni and Rockets management had come to the agreement that if the Rockets did not win a championship this season, he would be out as coach. The two sides were unable to reach an extension this summer, and D’Antoni is onthe last season of his deal.

The Rockets have been very successful the last 3 season, coming very close of their goal. But, I guess that the Rockets decided they wanted to go in a new direction with their team. Some of the early candidates for the job are Jeff Van Gundy, former coach for the Knicks and Rockets and Tom Thibodeau, former coach in Chicago and Minnesota.

For either of these candidates, it will be a tough job to coach both Harden and Westbrook. D’Antoni’s system was very isolation based, but with a new system, it might cause problems.

Thanks for tuning into this news update for the week, please leave a comment on what you think about teams returning to their facilities, and whether or not you think that Mike D’Antoni should be out of Houston.
