Lebron & AD Dominate, Thunder Strike Back!

After 4 games from Day 6 of the NBA Playoffs, I’m giving my thoughts on some topics that arose. Today I will be talking about the Lakers duo and the OKC Thunder.

After 4 games from Day 6 of the NBA Playoffs, I’m giving my thoughts on some topics that arose. Today I will be talking about the Lakers duo and the OKC Thunder.

LA Lakers

The Lakers have been up and down so far in the playoffs, and the same can be said about their star-studded duo. But Lebron and AD dominated in Game as the Lakers took a 2-1 series lead. But why doesn’t this happen all the time.

Lebron James had his best game of the series as he posted 38 points, 12 rebounds, and 8 assists. James had 20 points in the first half as he was carrying the Lakers. He was also hitting his 3-point shots. I think that James should have this attack mindset more often. Sure he won’t give you these numbers every night, but just being aggressive puts so much pressure on a defense.

I get that James wants to get everybody involved, but there comes a time where he needs to put his head down and score. And he did that in Game 3.

AD was also great, but he started off slow. He was getting to the foul line in the 1st half, but he wasn’t making any of them. But he got it going in the 2nd half as he posted 29 points, 11 rebounds, and 8 assists for the game. Davis showed his all-around game on both ends and with him and James both being hot, it became impossible for the Lakers to guard.

I think that AD should always be aggressive. Nobody in the league can really guard AD, but sometimes he makes it easier for them to guard him. He settles too much and sometimes is too passive. It’s different for Lebron to be passive than it is AD to be passive. If Lebron isn’t scoring, Davis needs to be. He needs to get down low, get to the foul line, and extend his range occasionally.

I think if you’re a Lakers fan you have to be wondering, where was this all this time? And the LA duo is possible of doing this every single night. But they just handicap themselves when they don’t. It will be interesting to see how the Lakers duo plays throughout the rest of the playoffs.

OKC Thunder

After falling down 0-2 to the Rockets, the Thunder needed a win to stay in the series. Their 3-guard set of Paul, Gilgeous-Alexander, and Schroder were not playing well together through the first two games in the series. That changed in Game 3.

All 3 of the guards were aggressive and they set the tone for OKC.

CP 3: 26 points, 6 rebounds, and 5 assists
SGA: 23 points, 7 rebounds, and 6 assists
Schroder: 29 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists

These 3 guards are capable of doing this. The Thunder offense struggled in Games 1 and 2 as these 3 were not all on their A-game. But in Game 3 they were all determined and they dominated.

This is how they will need to play if OKC wants any chance of winning this series. All 3 of them will need to be dangerous and put pressure on the Rockets defense. Pair that with the scoring of Danilo Gallinari who had 20 points in Game 3, and the Thunder are a very dangerous team.

We’ll see how the Thunder Big-3 plays in Game 4, but if they play like they did in Game 3, the Thunder are likely to win the game.
