Manu Ginobli: The Magician

On July 28th, 1977, Manu Ginobli was born in Bahia Blanca, Argentina. He went on to be one of the core members with Tim Duncan and Tony Parker than won many games and championships during the 2000’s. He is one of the greatest 6th man’s of all time.

Ginobli played international ball from 1995-2002. He won lots of medals for his team and country. In 2002, he declared for the NBA Draft. He fell all the way to pick 57, where the San Antonio Spurs picked. The Spurs already had David Robinson, Tim Duncan, Steve Kerr and Tony Parker. The Spurs went 60-22 and won the NBA Finals against the New Jersey Nets in 6 games. The 2003 NBA Champions were the Spurs, and Ginobli had his first NBA Title. They won again in 2005, 2007 and 2014. Over his career, Ginobli won 4 NBA Titles, was a 2x All Star, 2x All NBA 3rd Team, Sixth Man of the Year in 2008, and his number 20 is retired by the Spurs when he retired in 2018.

Ginobli was one of the core of those Spurs teams led by Popovich, and he will be remembered as one of the greatest draft steals and best bench players of all time.
