Moves That Should Happen This Offseason (Part 1)

With the 2019-20 season fully wrapped up, it’s time for the upcoming offseason. While we don’t fully know when this offseason period will start, we can make our predictions to see where players will be going. Today will be Part 1 of a series of offseason moves that have to happen this offseason.

Raptors Need To Keep Fred VanVleet

The Raptors have some key free agents like Serge Ibaka and Fred VanVleet this offseason, and with how their season ended in the bubble, they need to keep Fred VanVleet. Pascal Siakam is not a true star, and we saw that in the playoffs. And with an aging cast of support with guys like Kyle Lowry, VanVleet is the future of this team.

VanVleet has turned into one of the best guards in the league with his scoring ability and floor general skills. VanVleet also averaged 1.9 steals this past season, so he isn’t exactly a defensive liability. VanVleet will be a big target for a lot of teams as he is an unrestricted free agent.

The Raptors need to keep VanVleet to keep any chances of staying contenders in the East, and they need VanVleet for when this cast of Raptors players leave. VanVleet will be an important piece of a future Raptors rebuild as he is also just 26 years old.

So the Raptors #1 thing to do this free agency is keep Fred VanVleet.

The Kings Need To Bring Back Bogdan Bogdanovic

The Kings are in a very interesting place as a franchise. They had a great coach in Dave Joerger and they were ascending in the Western Conference. And then they fired Joerger for some reason, and they regressed this season. Buddy Hield is likely on his way out and De’Aaron Fox might leave too in 2021, because he likely won’t do much with the Kings.

But one thing that the Kings can do is keep Bogdan Bogdanovic. Bogdanovic stole the starting role from Buddy Hield and he excelled. Bogdanovic is a good shooter and solid offensive player. The Kings will be losing assets, and Bogdan Bogdanovic is one that they should look to keep.

Bogdanovic averaged 15.1 points on 44% shooting from the field and 37.2% from 3. Bogdanovic has turned into a solid offensive player for the Kings.

The Kings rarely make good decisions, but getting back Bogdan Bogdanovic would be a good idea. So Kings, make sure you do this.

The Nuggets Need To Keep Jerami Grant

The Nuggets acquired Jerami Grant in a rather quiet move last offseason, and Jerami Grant blossomed in his new role with Denver. The Nuggets got some much needed wing depth and scoring with Grant and they were a much better team this season than the prior. But Grant is a likely unrestricted free agent this summer, and the Nuggets need to get him back.

Grant has a player option, worth about $9 million dollars. Grant will 99.9% decline this option as he will be another hot topic on the market. Grant averaged 12.0 points while shooting 48% from the field and 39% from 3. Grant was a lot better in the playoffs, especially in the Western Conference Finals against the Lakers.

Grant needs to comeback to this Nuggets team as their backup is MPJ, who has a long way to go on the defensive end. Even if the Nuggets need to give up on Paul Millsap to keep Grant, I think you do it. The Nuggets #1 thing to do this offseason is get Grant.
