My Pre-Game Predictions For Today’s Games – 3.2.21

It’s another day of NBA basketball and we have 6 games on the schedule today. I will be going over my pre-game picks and choose a winner.

Memphis Grizzlies vs Washington Wizards

The Grizzlier were promising to start the year but now they can only win one way. Their offense isn’t very explosive and they rely too much on a struggling defense. Memphis has to get back to being very good defensively if they want to go anywhere and they are heading in the right direction, however they are going to need it to be better if they want to make the playoffs in the West.

The Wizards have won 7 of their last 9 games and they have been playing really well. Their energy on both ends has given them the boost they have needed all along. The offense is going to be fine most nights with the weapons they have they just need to play decent defense and they can win.

Final Verdict: The Wizards should win this game. They have been playing better and they have the much better offense in this game.

LA Clippers vs Boston Celtics

The Clippers turned into their last years selves as their offense was just give Kawhi/PG the ball and hope they make a shot. They have to be more of a team, like they have been this year. The Clippers have a good team and one that matches up well with Boston. They have to try and contain the Boston scorers and their bench will dominate that of the Celtics. This is a very winnable game for the Clippers.

The Celtics have been up and down this season and dealing with injuries but they’ll need Jaylen Brown back and healthy for this game. This is a bad matchup for Boston. The Clippers have guys for their scorers and just Tatum and Walker won’t be enough. The Celtics bench is usually very bad and the Clippers will run circles around them. This game won’t be close if Brown doesn’t play.

Final Verdict: The Celtics better hope Brown plays in this game or things could get ugly.

Atlanta Hawks vs Miami Heat

The Hawks have been struggling and Lloyd Pierce was the scapegoat. The firing isn’t good and it’s not bad. Pierce wasn’t some genius, but I doubt he was much of the problem. Nate McMillan is a very good coach and I doubt the Hawks will still be losing with him as coach, however they’ll still have to play well in order to win.

The Heat have the longest winning streak in the league right now as they have won their last 6 to get back to 0.500. In their last 6 games both sides of the ball have been improved for the Heat. Getting Dragic and Herro helps out their bench and if they can get Butler back they will basically be back to full strength. But this is still a good team.

Final Verdict: It’ll be interesting to see how the Hawks come out in this game. Energetic that their old coach is gone or playing the same way as before. If the Heat can trap Trae Young as affectively as they did in the first matchup, even without Jimmy Butler it’s hard not to pick them to win this game.

New York Knicks vs San Antonio Spurs

If the Knicks can score, they can win. It’s really that simple. Their defense is great but if their offense isn’t at least decent they can’t win. The addition of Derrick Rose has helped them become more consistent offensively, thus making them a better team overall.

The Spurs are a solid team but they have been dealing with lots of injuries. They are still short-handed because of Covid, but they have a solid roster. If the Spurs defense can shut down the Knicks offense (not the hardest thing to do in the world), they have a chance because New York loses when their offense struggles.

Final Verdict: I am going with the Knicks here. They have been playing really well on both ends and the Spurs are still a little short-handed from their Covid outbreak. This should be a good game but I am going with the Knicks.

Denver Nuggets vs Milwaukee Bucks

The Nuggets haven’t been good consistently this year but they have been playing much better with the emergence of MPJ and Murray. Both of these guys have been scoring more and the Nuggets have been winning despite dealing with injuries. If they want any chances at winning they have to give Jokic scoring relief and the team has to hit some 3’s.

The Bucks have won 5 in a row but we all know this doesn’t translate to post-season success. The Bucks are the same flawed team from last year, it’s just they have a slightly better team around Giannis. Getting Jrue Holiday helps them on both ends, although I don’t know how much he’s playing in this game. But no matter how much he plays, he helps this team. The Bucks just have to hope Denver doesn’t make a lot of 3’s and call it a day.

Final Verdict: The Bucks should win this game. The Nuggets don’t have the bodies for Giannis and they are going to have to rely on a lot of scoring from MPJ and Murray to win. The Bucks aren’t at full strength but getting Jrue Holiday back for maybe just 20 minutes a game helps them. This is a bad matchup for Denver, a game that the Bucks should dominate.

Phoenix Suns vs LA Lakers

The Suns have been playing really well lately as they remain at the top of the West. They are a very balanced team and they don’t have too many weaknesses. This will be a good test for the Suns to see where they are, and to show the rest of the league how good they can be.

The Lakers getting Dennis Schroder back makes them decent. Lebron gets some sort of sidekick and in these last two games LA has dominated. The Lakers face a tough test with the Suns in this game. They have to shut down Booker scoring wise and their bench has to win their battle in order for LA to win this game. Their defense is up for the task, they just have to be locked in.

Final Verdict: This will be a very good game but I am going with the Suns. They are healthier and they have been playing so well in these last few weeks. LA is good but without AD they are very beatable, and a all-around good team like the Suns can beat them. But this should be a very good game.

Game Of The Day

Suns vs Lakers should be good. Some of the best in the West battling it out, should be a very, very good game.
