NBA Season To Return In Orlando

Today, the NBA Board of Governors voted on a plan that will resume the 2019-20 season.

After months without basketball, it’s looking like we’re going to be able to finish the 2019-20 season. The NBA Board of Directors approved of the plan Adam Silver has put in place.

This plan is a 22 team format, with 13 teams from the Western Conference and 9 teams from the Eastern Conference. The 22 teams in Orlando will play 8 regular season games. There have also been talks about a possible play-in tournament for the 8th seed.

Along with the 16 playoff teams, the Pelicans, Blazers, Kings, Suns, and Spurs have been invited to Orlando. Washington was the only non-playoff Eastern Conference team invited.

The plan was approved on a 29-1 vote. There will of course be no fans in attendance during the games, which does sort of ruin the whole point of home-court advantage which teams like the Bucks and Lakers have worked all season long for. There will be no making up for that, but I think that every playoff team is glad that the season is returning.

Important Dates
June 21st: All Players Report to Teams
June 22nd: Testing Begins On Players/Staff
June 30th: Training Camps at Team Facilities

July 7th: Travel to Orlando
July 30th: 2019-20 Season Resumes
August 25th: Draft Lottery
October 15th: NBA Draft

Free Agency: October 18th
December 1st: Opening Night For 2020-21 Season (Not official)

So, as you can see, the NBA has a pretty structured plan for when everything is going to be set in motion. They will be testing before players get to Orlando, and then they will obviously have many safety measures while teams are staying in Orlando. With all of this information, a champion might be crowned for the 2019-20 season.

Of course, with the return of the season bringing only a selected amount of teams, Vince Carter will have played his last game in the NBA on March 11th, 2020. Carter had a 22-year career with 8-All Star Appearances. Carter is one of the greatest dunkers of all time, with his 2000 All Star Appearance being the greatest single dunk contest performance ever. It will be sad to see Carter go without a ring, but he will be a first ballot Hall Of Famer.

But, what do you think? Is the NBA returning to the 2019-20 season the right way? What are ways that they can improve? Leave all of your comments down below.
