After 4 games from Day 8 of the NBA Playoffs, I’m giving my thoughts on some topics that arose from Day 8. Today I will be talking about the OKC Thunder and the Miami Heat/

OKC Thunder

After trailed 0-2 in the series, I thought that the Thunder were done for. The Thunder offense was getting controlled by the Rockets and the Thunder couldn’t stop the explosive Houston offense. And the Thunder were playing this bad with the Rockets not having Russell Westbrook.

So the Thunder would need to change a lot in order to win this series. And they changed. In Game 3, the Thunder guards went off. The game went into OT. And the Thunder dominated the OT as they outscored the Rockets 15-3. So the Thunder won Game 3 and they trailed 2-1. But they really needed to win Game 4 to officially be in the series.

And the Thunder did it again with a Game 4 victory. Again the Thunder guards were dominant, and they played excellent defense in the 4th. The Thunder also trailed by double-digits in the 2nd half. But they battled back and Chris Paul killed Houston late.

So now the series is tied 2-2 as the Thunder seemed to have found their rhythm. Their guards are destroying Houston as all 3 of them have been playing great in Games 3 and 4. But the question for OKC is, can they win this series? I think that they can as long as their guard have their footprint on the game. And as long as their defense can make it tough on James Harden.

But the Thunder have the momentum in this series as well as the formula to beat Houston. I think that they can comeback from down 0-2 and upset the Rockets in the 1st round.

Miami Heat

Many people viewed the Heat as a dark-horse in the East, but they are really looking good so far in the playoffs. But can they really make a deep playoff run?

Well Jimmy Butler and the Heat sure think so. With Butler playing great so far in the playoffs, it’s tough to stop the Heat. Along with Butler, you’re getting solid contribution from Bam Adebayo, Tyler Herro, Duncan Robinson, Goran Dragic and others.

The Heat have won in a multitude of ways. In Game 3 they scored 124 points as they shot 45% from the field and made 43 free throws. And they also win a defensive type game as in Game 4 they won 99-87.

So the Heat offense can be very scary. They have a lot of shooters and an inside presence with a slashing Jimmy Butler along with Bam Adebayo. And on defense, everybody on Miami gives 100% as Jimmy Butler and Jae Crowder are great paint defenders. Andre Iguodala is another good defender, and so is Bam Adebayo.

So the Heat are a very well-rounded and have guys who can get it done on both ends. And now that they will (likely) face the Bucks in the 2nd round of the playoffs, I believe that the Heat can make it tough on the Bucks. The Heat beat the Bucks twice in the regular season, and they seem to have the team to beat the Bucks.

The Heat are a team that the Bucks don’t want to face, and the Heat have a chance to upset the vulnerable Bucks. I think that they can make the series competitive, and even win it. They just have to play to their strengths and they will be just fine.
