It’s Day 22 of the NBA Playoffs and we have just 1 game today, Game 4 between the Rockets and the Lakers.

LA Lakers

The Lakers won Game 4 against the Rockets. Here is what I thought about their performance.

After losing Game 1 of this series, the Lakers have looked very good. Winning the last two games in convincing fashion as Lebron James has looked like Miami Lebron. Game 4 was more of the same. The Lakers led by 16 at halftime, and didn’t let the Rockets back into the game as they won 110-100.

Offensively the Lakers were great as they shot 49% from the field and 30% from 3. LA was also 15/16 from the free throw line. The Lakers had 12 offensive rebounds. The Lakers turned the ball over 16 times. LA also had 62 points down low.

Defensively the Lakers were good as Houston shot 43% from the field and 42% from 3. Houston was also 30/39 from the free throw line. The Lakers forced 16 turnovers. The Lakers also allowed just 24 points down low.

Anthony Davis had 29 points, 12 rebounds, and 5 assists. Lebron James had 16 points, 15 rebounds, and 9 assists. Alex Caruso had 16 points off the bench. Rajon Rondo had 11 points, 10 rebounds, and 8 assists off the bench. KCP and Danny Green were also in double-figures.

Conclusion

The Lakers and their new starting lineup ft. Markieff Morris looked very good as their offense once again clicked. Lebron and AD were great again, and they once again got lots of help. Danny Green and KCP combined for 20. Caruso had 16 off the bench and Rondo had a near triple-double. Now leading 3-1 in the series the Lakers look to put the Rockets away in Game 5 and advance to the Western Conference Finals.

Houston Rockets

The Rockets lost Game 4 against the Lakers. Here is what I thought about their performance.

The Rockets had lost each of the last two games in the series and needed a win in order to tie the series at 2-2. Harden and Westbrook needed to play well and the Rockets needed their defense to be great in order to win. Yeah, that didn’t really happen. The Rockets fell behind early and trailed by 16 at halftime. And any attempts at a comeback fell short as they lost 110-100. The Rockets trail 3-1 in the series.

Offensively the Rockets were ok as they shot 43% from the field and 42% from 3. Houston was also 30/39 from the free throw line. The Rockets turned the ball over 16 times and had just 24 points in the paint.

Defensively the Rockets were poor as LA shot 49% from the field and 30% from 3. The Lakers were 15/16 from the free throw line. The Rockets allowed 12 offensive rebounds. The Rockets forced 16 turnovers. Houston allowed 62 points down low.

Russell Westbrook had 25 points. James Harden had 21 points and 10 assists. Eric Gordon added 19 points. Austin Rivers had 14 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists off the bench.

Conclusion

In a must-win game, the Rockets fell apart. Westbrook and Harden were solid, but not enough. The Rockets offense was again not the problem, but the Rockets can’t seem to replicate their Game 1 defensive performance. The Rockets Game 1 performance seems like a fluke as it looks like they will be losing this series in 5 games. I guess you could say that small ball came up a big short.
