Playoffs Day 40 As The Lakers Bounce Back! 10.6.20

It’s Day 40 of the NBA Playoffs and we have Game 4 of the NBA Finals between the Miami Heat and the LA Lakers.

LA Lakers

The Lakers won Game 4 against the Heat. Here is what I thought about their performance.

After a bad Game 3 performance, the Lakers looked to bounce and back and really end this series vs the Heat. Bam Adebayo would be back in action for the Heat, but the Lakers looked to overcome Miami again. And they did. Even with Lebron James struggling in the first half, the Lakers were engaged in a battle. Lebron and AD turned it up in the 3rd, giving the Lakers a 5-point lead entering the 4th. And in the 4th the Lakers’ defense was great. They gave no room to the Heat shooters and KCP made some big shots down the stretch. AD’s 3 and big block sealed the 102-96 victory, giving the Lakers a 3-1 series lead.

Offensively the Lakers were solid as they shot 44% from the field and 36% from 3. LA was also 18/21 from the free throw line. The Lakers added 10 offensive rebounds. The Lakers turned it over 15 times. LA also had 34 points in the paint.

Defensively the Lakers were solid as Miami shot 43% from the field and 34% from 3. Miami was also 21/26 from the free throw line. The Lakers forced 11 turnovers. LA also allowed 32 points down low.

Lebron James had 28 points, 12 rebounds, and 8 assists. Anthony Davis had 22 points and 9 rebounds. KCP added 15 points and 5 assists. Danny Green had 10 points as well.

Conclusion

The Lakers gutted out this win, even if it wasn’t pretty. Lebron and AD didn’t play well in the first half, but were masterful on both ends in the 2nd half. But KCP was the added kick they needed as he hit some big shots. The Lakers defense was much improved as they smothered Robinson and Herro all night long. The Lakers did catch some breaks and got some huge offensive rebounds. But the Lakers got the win they needed tonight and now move just one win away from an NBA title.

Miami Heat

The Heat lost Game 4 against the Lakers. Here is what I thought about their performance.

The Heat stole Game 3 from the Lakers and gained some life. Bam Adebayo would be playing in Game 4, so the Heat would be better matched up with the Lakers. The Heat had their chances to win this game, but they couldn’t cash any of them in.

Offensively the Heat were ok as they shot 43% from the field and 34% from 3. Miami was also 21/26 from the free throw line. Miami had 11 turnovers. The Heat also had 32 points in the paint.

Defensively the Heat were sub-par as LA shot 44% from the field and 36% from 3. LA was also 18/21 from the free throw line. Miami allowed 10 offensive rebounds. The Heat forced 15 turnovers. The Heat also allowed 34 points in the paint.

Jimmy Butler had 22 points, 10 rebounds, and 9 assists. Tyler Herro had 21 points and 7 rebounds. Duncan Robinson added 17 points. Bam Adebayo had 15 points and 7 rebounds.

Conclusion

The Heat had their chances to win this game, but couldn’t stop the Lakers in the end. The Heat’s offense struggled against the Lakers late in the 4th as Tyler Herro was their only source of offense. Jimmy Butler had a good box-score day, but was far too passive. The Heat kept Herro and Robinson in too much in the 4th and the Lakers abused them on offense. The Heat couldn’t score when they needed to and they couldn’t stop LA when they needed to, to put it simply. Miami now trails 3-1 in this series as for all intents and proposes, their magical season is over.
