Suns Dominate Game 6, Advance To The NBA Finals! 6.30.21

It’s a Wednesday night and we have Game 6 of the Western Conference Finals between the Suns and Clippers from Staples Center.

(2) Phoenix Suns vs (4) LA Clippers

Phoenix Suns (4-2)

The Suns made the proper adjustments in this game to win. They fed Deandre Ayton down low, taking advantage of the smaller Clippers. Ayton was also a monster on the offensive glass. Chris Paul and Devin Booker dominated with those high screen and rolls and they got some excellent shooting from Jae Crowder. The offense was on fire for the whole game and they shut down Paul George for the whole game. The Suns dominated this game from the start and now they’re heading to the NBA finals, their first finals appearance since 1993.

41 points and 8 assists for Chris Paul who was lights out in the 2nd half. He had 31 points on 12/16 shooting in the 2nd half and he was a warrior. 22 for Booker, 19 for Crowder, double-double for Ayton, total team effort. The Suns are the first team ever to make the Finals after a 10-year playoff drought.

Chris Paul is heading to his first finals. Well deserved with all the short comings with the Clippers and Rockets, he finally gets a chance at a ring. Booker, Ayton, Bridges, all of these young guys are heading to the Finals in their first ever postseason run. This team has played so well top to bottom and now they’re 4 wins away from missing the playoffs last year to winning a title this year.

LA Clippers (2-4)

Good effort, I guess. I know the Clippers played very well in this series without Kawhi and they’re whole playoff run was impressive. Coming back from down 2-0 and 3-2 in the first round against Dallas. Coming back down 0-2 to the best team in the West in Utah, without Kawhi Leonard for Games 5 and 6. Then they come into the Western Conference Finals against a far superior Suns team and push it to 6 games.

But Paul George was awful and the defense just didn’t have anything like they had in Game 5. The Clippers formula worked in Game 5, but without a Paul George explosion and the necessary shooting, the Clippers fell well short of a win as they are heading home. With Kawhi Leonard they would have certainly won this series, but injuries and 2021 go hand in hand. I doubt Kawhi leaves this offseason, so they’re going to be good again next year. Maybe their chemistry finally works out and they’re all healthy so they can try and win a title. Maybe.
