The Miami Heat are on the verge of advancing to the NBA Finals. But this potential championship team isn’t like most. Today we’re looking at the Miami Heat.

Over the past few years, we’ve seen star players dominate the league. And we’ve seen more and more people team up to build super teams. The Big 3 Heat, Warriors, Lakers, and Clippers have all built stacked teams in the past few years. This seemed to be the trend for how to win a title in the modern NBA. But the Miami Heat are the outliar to this trend.

The Heat have one super-star in Jimmy Butler, and some people are just realizing how good Jimmy is. Jimmy became an All-Star with the Bulls but was shipped to the Timberwolves. He helped lead the T-Wolves to their first playoff birth in over a decade. But Butler said that Towns and Wiggins weren’t hard workers. So he demanded a trade and was traded to the 76ers. He was the main reason they became much better during the 2018-19 season. Of course the 76ers tragically lost in the playoffs to Kawhi and the Raptors, but the future was bright for Jimmy and the 76ers. But Butler wasn’t happy with the situation in Philly and left for Miami in Philly.

After this, many people disliked Butler. He wasn’t perceived as a winner and was cast aside as a star player. But Butler’s move to Miami was a very quite one. Nobody expected Miami to be this good. Butler’s leadership has really helped the others come along and made this Heat team so deep.

Bam Adebayo had his break-out year this season as he became an All-Star as he was a great all-around big for the Heat. His defense was great as he was All-Defensive 2nd Team. He was a great-playmaker and made the Heat offense great. Kendrick Nunn and Duncan Robinson came out of nowhere. Both were undrafted by played huge roles for the Heat. Nunn averaged 15 points per game during the season and was a great scorer alongside Butler and Bam. Robinson was the sharp-shooter who gave the Heat lots of space and he turned into one of the best shooters this season.

Tyler Herro, another rookie has taken our breath away more so in the playoffs. Herro was quietly good in the regular season, but has stepped it up in the postseason. He is a great scorer from all 3 levels and is a closer for the Heat during these playoffs. Herro hasn’t scored anything under 10 points during these playoffs, and the 20-year old is starting a very bright career.

Jae Crowder and Andre Iguodala are veterans who provide some extra leadership for Miami. Iggy doesn’t play as much but is solid in his minutes. Crowder is a great 3&D guy to help Butler on the perimeter. Goran Dragic still provides crafty scoring and play-making. He has also come up big in the postseason.

But Erik Spoelstra is the cherry on top. Spoelstra is showing us why he’s the best coach in the league. His defenses change with the opponent and his zone defense against Boston has been solid. He perfectly utilizes everybody on offense. Duncan Robinson runs around, creating lots of space of offense. Their picks and rolls involving Butler, Dragic, or Herro are deadly with Bam being a big log target. And they have some clutch closers. Herro, Butler, and Dragic have all hit some big shots during this postseason.

Nobody expected this out of the Heat. They are 11-2 in the postseason and nobody can figure them out. They have a chance to be one of the most improbable championship teams ever. Not because they have 3 top-10 players and an all-around stacked roster. Because they have guys that want to work. They have guys who want in on their culture. Everybody on that roster believes, and they have a chance to win one of the most impressive titles in recent memory. All because they play team basketball.
