Action around the NBA continues!
Almost a week into the season and the NBA action continues with 5 games today.
Golden State Warriors vs Oklahoma City Thunder
My prediction before the game: Golden State Warriors
Coming into this game, the Warriors had lost their home opener but not many were hitting the panic button. The Oklahoma City Thunder were 0-2.
The OKC Thunder controlled this game from the tip and dominated the Warriors 120-92. Dennis Schroder had 22 points, 8 rebounds, and 6 assists. Stephen Curry had 23 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. The Thunder shot 56% from the field. They also made 15 3’s and shot 47%.
The Warriors did make 10 more free throws than the Thunder, 27-17. But the Warriors are now 0-2 for the first time since Steve Kerr took over as head coach.
Brooklyn Nets vs Memphis Grizzlies
My prediction before the game: Memphis Grizzlies
Rookie Ja Morant has not led the Grizzlies to a win this season, with a record of 0-2. Kyrie Irving had been playing out of his mind, but the Nets are still 1-1.
This game was a thriller, and the Memphis Grizzlies won 134-133 in OT because of Jae Crowder hitting the GW 3 pointer as time expired.
Rookie Ja Morant had 30 points and 9 assists. Kyrie Irving had 37 points, 7 rebounds, and 7 assists. The Grizzlies shot 49% from the field and 42% from the field.
The Nets beat the Grizzlies beat the Nets 30-20 at the foul line. The Grizzlies get their 1st win of the year and are now 1-2, while the Nets lose their 2nd overtime game and also their 2nd 1 point loss.
They are now 1-2 as they face the Indiana Pacers on Wednesday. Kyrie has produced, without team success.
Miami Heat vs Minnesota Timberwolves
My prediction before the game: Minnesota Timberwolves
Both of these teams are 2-0 as they both look for their 3rd straight win of the year.
The Timberwolves outscored the Heat by 14 in the fourth quarter and won 116-109. Andrew Wiggins had 25 points and 6 rebounds.
Kendrick Nunn had 25 points for the Heat. The Heat shot 49% from the field, and 42% from 3.
The T-wolves made 15 more free throws, 25-10. The Timberwolves forced the Heat to commit 21 turnovers.
The T-wolves have won 3 in a row and are now 3-0, while the Heat get their first loss of the season and fall to 2-1.
Portland Trail Blazers vs Dallas Mavericks
My prediction before the game: Portland Trail Blazers
A battle of two of the best duos in the NBA in Dallas promised to be a good one. I was wrong. It turned out to be great.
This game was a thriller, with large leads blown in the 1st half with the Mavs losing a 19 point lead. In the 4th quarter it was back and forth. The Blazers managed to win 121-119.
CJ McCollum had 35 points and 6 rebounds. Damian Lillard had 28 points and 5 assists.
For the Mavs, Kristaps Porzingis had 32 points, 9 rebounds, and 5 assists, and Luka Doncic had 29 points, 12 rebounds, and 9 assists.
The Blazers shot 52% from the field, and 41% from 3. The Mavs did make 10 more free throws than the Blazers, 32-22. This was a real classic game.
The Blazers have won 2 in a row..on the road… and now sit at 2-1, while the Mavericks get their 1st loss of the year and fall to 2-1.
Charlotte Hornets vs LA Lakers
My prediction before the game: LA Lakers
The Lakers come into this came looking for their 2nd straight win, while the Hornets look to get their 2nd win of the season.
This game went like it was supposed to, with the LA Lakers winning 120-101.
Anthony Davis had 29 points and 14 rebounds for the Lakers.
Miles Bridges had 23 points and 6 rebounds for the Hornets.
The Lakers shot 53% from the field and 36% from the 3 point line. The Hornets won the free throw battle by 10, 21-11.
The Lakers have won back to back games and now sit at 2-1, while the Hornets fall under 0.500 and now sit at 1-2 as they face the LA Clippers tomorrow.
Predictions: 3-1
