#10- Bojan Bogdanovic: Comment Below
The Pacers were becoming one of the best teams in the Eastern Conference when Victor Oladipo got hurt. Bogdanovic was the #2 Oladipo and now was pushed into the #1 role. He averaged 18.0 points and 4.1 rebounds. He shot 49.7% from the field, 42.5% from 3 and 80.7% from the line. Those are incredible efficiency numbers. He was shooting those numbers when he was the Pacers #1 option for most of the season. Now going to the Utah Jazz where he will be a #3 at most with Donovan Mitchell and Mike Conley running the back-court, Bogdanovic can just run around screens and hit some spot up 3’s and his efficiency will stay the same which is fine and it could go up. His points will probably go down, but when your on a winning team, you need somebody like Bogdanovic who can give you 20 on any given night, but sometimes he doesn’t need too.
#9- Andrew Wiggins: Comment Below
Andrew Wiggins has steadily become one of the better SF’s in the NBA since his 2014 entrance into the NBA. Last season, Wiggins averaged 18.1 points and 4.8 rebounds. He shot 41.2% from the field, 33.9% from 3, and 69.9% from 3. He could improve his shooting numbers all around, but since they lost Derrick Rose, Wiggins will have to get the ball more and take more shots. But this is why me and many other basketball fans around he league agree that Wiggins is a bust. After 3 seasons in the league, Wiggins was a 20+ point per game scorer, but then he took a dip in points by about 2 or 3 points. He has steadily become a good scorer, but he has never improved by a lot in any category, and he is just a steady player, and that makes him average. He will need to have a really good season to prove those doubters (including me) wrong.
#8- Jimmy Butler: Comment Below
Jimmy Butler has become one of the better 2-way wings in the NBA, and I know what you are thinking, why is he so low? He’s really good! I will get to that later. But for now, Butler averaged 18.7 points and 5.3 rebounds. He shot 46.2% from the field, 34.7% from 3, and 85.5% from the line. Pretty solid numbers saying that he played with the Timberwolves who had 2 other scoring options with Towns and Wiggins and the 76ers who have Embiid, Harris and Simmons. But, behind the player, Jimmy is a terrible teammate. Jimmy has had chemistry problems with other great players with the teams that he has played for and has had a terrible relation with almost every single team he has played with. He is kind of like Kyrie Irving in the sense that he can’t get along with anybody on his team or on the staff. Now with a new team in Miami, and him being the obvious star, hopefully he can get along with everybody.
#7- Jayson Tatum: Comment Below
In only 2 seasons in the NBA, Tatum has turned into one of the better SF’s in the NBA, and has the potential to become one of the better SF’s in the NBA. Last season, Tatum averaged 15.7 points and 6.0 rebounds. He shot 45.0% from the field, 37.3% from 3, and 85.5% from the line. Those are great numbers for a 2nd year player. Now with Kemba Walker, the ball will move more often and he will get more touches. This season could be a breakout season for Tatum and this could be the start of a great young NBA star.
#6- Luka Doncic: Comment Below
After having undoubtedly the best Rookie of the Year season for any rookie for a long time, Luka Doncic has established himself as the franchise player for the Mavericks. Last season, Luka averaged 21.2 points and 7.8 rebounds. He shot 42.7% from the field, 32.7% from 3, and 71.3% from the line. Those are great numbers for the #1 of a team and for a rookie. Now with Kristaps Porzingis, Doncic will get to share the ball more and get less touches. Doncic should get his efficiency up and mature more. With Porzingis and Doncic leading the way, the Mavericks are surely heading in the right direction as a franchise.
#5- Paul George: Comment Below
Paul George is the 2nd best 2-way wing in my opinion, and he is playing with the best one. George is a great scorer and defender in the NBA and still has a lot left in the tank. Last season, George averaged 28.0 points and 8.2 rebounds. He shot 43.8% from the field, 38.6% from 3 and 83.9% from the line. These are by far George’s best numbers, and it’s amazing that he had these numbers after that devastating leg injury. He also had these numbers while playing with Russell Westbrook, a very ball-dominant guard who is not the best teammate. Now, playing with a guy like Kawhi Leonard, him and George have the chance to be the best forwards duo in the NBA with there excellent array on the offense end and their ability to lock down other great players.
#4- Lebron James: Comment Below
Before I start, I know what everybody is thinking, Lebron’s the best player on the planet, he’s the GOAT, whatever. I will explain. Last season, Lebron James missed the playoffs and the Finals for the first time since 2010, 8 years in a row, that’s crazy. But this was also the first season that Lebron missed a lot of time with a significant injury. James averaged 27.4 points and 8.5 rebounds. He shot 51.0% from the field, 33.9% from 3, and 66.5% from the line. The 3 and the free throw percentages could improve, but when you shoot 51% and get 28 points, I think your fine. James had some injuries and other players like Giannis and Kawhi blossomed Now with Anthony Davis, the duo can have a great season if they both stay healthy and win some games. This is a Lakers team that can definitely get to the playoffs and make a deep run, but the duo will have to stay healthy and we will see how they stand against other great teams in the NBA.
#3- Giannis Antetokounmpo: Comment Below
After having a breakout MVP season for the Bucks and leading them to the Eastern Conference Finals, Giannis has established himself as one of the best forwards and the future is very bright for the Bucks. Last season, Giannis averaged 27.7 points and 12.8 rebounds. He shot 57.8% from the field, 25.6% from 3, and 72.9% from the line. The 3 and foul line numbers can improve, and with Giannis’s work ethic, I think that he can do it. He needs to get a decent mid-range jumper at least so that the defense will be on their heels more while guarding him. But, he shot almost 60% from the field while teams know that almost all of his points are coming from the paint. That’s crazy. And if you watch some of his highlights on YouTube, you can see why they call him the Greek Freak.
#2- Kevin Durant (When Healthy): Comment Below
Before KD got injured, he was on a tear and nobody could stop him. When KD gets like this, nobody on the planet can stop him with his length, dribbling and shooting. Last season, Durant averaged 26.0 points and 6.4 rebounds. He shot 52.1% from the field, 35.3% from 3, and 88.5% from the line. Those are really good efficiency numbers considered how much defenses pay attention to him. He did suffer an Achilles injury in the Finals and will most likely miss all of this season with the Nets. When he comes back next season, we will see how much the injury affected him, and if it did not affect him that much, then the NBA is in for some trouble.
#1- Kawhi Leonard: Comment Below
After helping the Raptors win the 2019 NBA Championship and the run Kawhi had during the playoffs, he is clearly the best player in the NBA. He has a complete game with his shooting and strength on the offensive side and long arms and huge hands on the defensive side. Last season, Leonard averaged 26.6 points and 7.3 rebounds. He shot 49.6% from the field, 37.1% from 3, and 85.4% from the line. Solid shooting numbers all around. Now that he is playing with Paul George with the LA Clippers, they will wreck havoc with their great offensive and defensive skills along with the fact that they have a great supporting cast with guys like Pat Beverley, Lou Williams and Montrezl Harrell. This season for the Clippers will be really good with them having 2 of the 5 best SF’s in the NBA and the 2 best 2-way wings in the NBA
