Trae Young Dominates! Giannis Triple Double! 10/24/19

NBA Opening Week continues with 3 games on the schedule, with some really good games, including the last 5 MVP’s playing on the same night.

In other news, Marvin Bagley is going to be out 4 to 6 weeks because he fractured his thumb against Phoenix last night. Deandre Ayton has also been suspended by the NBA for 25 games for violating the Anti Drug Policy.

Atlanta Hawks vs Detroit Pistons

Prediction: Atlanta Hawks

The Pistons fresh off of a win last night against the Indiana Pacers are now playing Trae Young and the Atlanta Hawks who are in their season opener. Trae Young was dominant in this game and led the Hawks to a 117-100 win. Trae Young had 38 points, 7 rebounds and 9 assists. Derrick Rose had 27 points for the Pistons. The Hawks shot 51% from the field for the game, and 35% from 3. They also killed the Pistons in the paint, outscoring them 60-36. The Hawks pick up an impressive first game win, while the Pistons drop to 1-1.

Milwaukee Bucks vs Houston Rockets

Prediction: Milwaukee Bucks

It’s the battle of the last 3 MVP’s with Giannis in 2019, James Harden in 2018 and Russell Westbrook in 2017. This will also be the first game of the year of the new duo of James Harden and Russell Westbrook. After struggling in the 1st half, Milwaukee came back in the 2nd half, outscoring the Rockets by 22, and were able to win the game 117-111. Reigning MVP Giannis had 30 points, 13 rebounds and 11 assists, his 1st triple double of the year. He also had a great chase down block on James Harden. The duo of Harden and Westbrook combined for 43 points, 23 rebounds and 21 assists. Pretty impressive, but they were still not able to win the game. The Bucks shot 47% from the field, much too high if you are the Rockets. The Rockets were able to make 20 more free throws than the Bucks, 29-9. This is a good campaign for Giannis and Bucks to make a deep run in the playoffs, and a concerning start for the new duo in Houston.

LA Clippers vs Golden State Warriors

Prediction: LA Clippers

It’s the first ever game in the new Chase Arena for the Golden State Warriors as they face off against Kawhi Leonard and the LA Clippers. The Clippers blew out the Warriors 141-122. Lou Williams had 22 points and 9 assists for the Clippers. Steph Curry had a game high 23 points. The Clippers were video game like, shooting 63% from the field. They also made 18 3’s, shooting 54% from the field. The Clippers scored 46 points in the 3rd quarter alone. The Clippers have started their championship run with a 2-0 start, and the Warriors have started their weird season 0-1, as they look to bounce back against the Oklahoma City Thunder on Sunday.

Predictions: 3-0
