Trust The Process & Not So Hot In LA?

After 4 games of the NBA Playoffs on Day 3, I’m giving my thoughts on a few topics. Today I will be covering the Philadelphia 76ers and the LA Clippers.

After 4 games of the NBA Playoffs on Day 3, I’m giving my thoughts on a few topics. Today I will be covering the Philadelphia 76ers and the LA Clippers.

Trust The Process

The 76ers already trailed 0-1 in a series vs the Boston Celtics, but they knew what they needed to do to win. Give the ball to Joel Embiid throughout the game and other guys need to hit shots out of the double team. Seems pretty simple, right? And the 76ers got off to a great start in the 1st quarter. And then they collapsed.

Especially on the defensive end where Jayson Tatum and Kemba Walker killed them in the pick and roll in the first half. Tatum was hitting 3’s and knifing through the lane while Walker was hitting pull-up jumpers from everywhere. While Embiid was aggressive, he wasn’t getting much help from his teammates. But the game was close at halftime and still anybody’s games.

But they continued to dig themselves in a hole. They weren’t playing defense with much energy and after falling behind by 20+, the game was over The 76ers lost all of their energy and looked asleep on the court.

While Joel Embiid was better in Game 2 and was much more aggressive, he didn’t get much help. Tobias Harris was held in check all night long as he never got it going. But the problem for the 76ers was that they played no defense. They didn’t have any energy whereas the Celtics did and it showed. The 76ers have not been able to guard Jayson Tatum as he shows so signs of slowing down.

So now down 0-2 in a series, it’s almost 100% that the 76ers will lose this series. And as of right now it looks like they won’t be winning a game in this series. Another disappointing year for the 76ers as it might be time to end the process.

LA Clippers

After a great Game 1, the Clippers looked to double down and take a 2-0 series lead vs Luka and the Mavs. They were without Patrick Beverley, but they knew what they needed to do in order to win.

But they looked really flat. The Mavs jumped out to a 15-2 lead early and the Clippers were fighting back for the rest of the 1st half. And they did a good job as they made it a game again. And at halftime, it was still anybody’s game. But in that 3rd quarter they looked bad. Especially on the defensive end where Seth Curry and Trey Burke were running circles around LA. And on offense, other than Kawhi and Lou Williams, nothing was falling.

The Clippers made a late run but they still lost 127-114, and they are now in a 1-1 series. The Clippers offense was not that good as Marcus Morris and Paul George were not as good as in Game 1. Especially Paul George who had something to prove this postseason. And he only had 14 points. Montrezl Harrell looked better, but still has a ways to go before getting back to 100% game form.

So the Clippers looked like two completely different teams so far in this series and now have to take care of business in Game 3 otherwise they might be in some trouble.
