Who Is The Best Player From The 2013 NBA Draft?
Today I will be finding the best player from the 2013 NBA Draft Class.
Today I am continuing the series where I find the best players from each draft class, and we are going to review the 2013 NBA Draft Class.
#3 – CJ McCollum
Portland Trail Blazers – #10 Pick
After the Blazers selected McCollum with the 10th pick, he did not receive a good chance for the first two seasons of his career. Then the Blazers went into a new era of players after their core left, and McCollum got his chance. McCollum won the Most Improved Award and turned into one of the premier scorers in the Western Conference. Ever since the 2015-16 season McCollum has been the solid #2 option for the Blazers.
This season McCollum is averaging 22.5 points while shooting 45.3% from the field and 38.0% from 3.
Ever since the 2015-16 season, McCollum has turned into one of the best scorers in the Western Conference. While people are always saying that the Blazers should break out the duo of him and Damian Lillard. But, there is no doubting that McCollum has been a key piece of the Blazers for the last half decade.
#2 – Rudy Gobert
Utah Jazz – 27th Pick
Gobert was not highly touted coming into the league. In his first 3 seasons in the NBA Gobert was ok, but he was nothing special. Then going into the 2016-17 season, Gobert started turning into one the best defenders in the NBA. He is a great shot blocker and won back-to-back Defensive Player of the Year Awards in 2018 and 2019. Nowadays Gobert is one of the best defenders in the NBA, and is a top-5 center in the NBA.
This season Gobert is averaging 15.1 points and 13.7 rebounds with 2.0 blocks. He is shooting 69.8% from the field.
While Gobert has lost some credibility with the rest of the league concerning the NBA hiatus, there is no doubting that he is one of the best defenders down low for the past few years.
#1 – Giannis Antetokounmpo
Milwaukee Bucks – 13th Pick
Giannis was some foreign kid who was tall, lanky, and young. But nobody could see what he would become in a few years. Giannis steadily improved year after year until he was averaging 23 points in the 2016-17 season. He then had a great season, but the 2018-19 season was his best one yet. Giannis became the face of the league as he was named the MVP and led the Bucks to a 60 win season. While the Bucks disappointed many by losing in the Eastern Conference Finals, the future was bright for the young MVP.
This season Giannis is averaging 29.6 points, 13.7 rebounds, and 5.8 assists with 1 steal and 1 block. He is shooting 54.7% from the field and 30.6% from 3.
The future is bright for Giannis and the Bucks, and while he is about to be a two-time MVP, the Bucks need to win a ring to validate Giannis as one of the best players of the last decade. Nonetheless, Giannis is turning into one of the best international players of all time and is for sure the best rookie from this class.
