Today, I am continuing the series where I list the best players from each draft class. Today, I will be naming the 3 best players (so far), from the 2017 Draft Class.
#3- De’Aaron Fox
Sacramento Kings – 5th Pick
De’Aaron Fox has quietly been one of the best point guards for the Kings. The only reason he goes unnoticed is because he’s on the Kings. But, Fox is is a very talented guard, using his speed and play-making abilities to his advantage.
Fox is averaging 20.4 points and 6.8 assists this season. He is shooting 47.5% from the field and and 30.7% from 3.
While Fox is not getting the recognition he deserves, Fox has been a cornerstone for the Kings everlasting rebuild. Many people were skeptical of Fox coming into the NBA, but he has proved that he is the best PG out of this draft (sorry Lonzo).
#2 – Donovan Mitchell
Utah Jazz – 13th Pick
Although Mitchell was the 13th pick, he proved to be the steal of the draft. With his explosive scoring like ability, Mitchell has led the Jazz to multiple playoff appearances since coming into the league.
This season, Mitchell is averaging 24.2 points. He is shooting 45% from the field and 35% from 3.
Although Mitchell was a very underrated player coming into the NBA, he has proved to the league that he is a leader for an ascending Utah Jazz team in the Western Conference.
#1 – Jayson Tatum
Boston Celtics – 3rd Pick
Before the season started, I would have said that Tatum was the #2 guy in this draft class. But, with the leaps that he has taken this season, Tatum has proven to be a great leader for the Celtics.
This season, Tatum is averaging 23.6 points and 7.1 rebounds. He is shooting 44.8% from the field and 39.8% from 3.
This season, Tatum has taken that big step into an All-Star. After a few years of being just under that All-Star level, Tatum has proven this season that he is the best player on the Celtics and that we will be a threat in the Eastern Conference for a long time.
