Who Is The Best Power Forward Of The 2010s?
Today I will be finding the best power forward of the 2010’s.
Today I am going to be finding the best power forward from the 2010’s.
#3 – Tim Duncan
San Antonio Spurs
Now, I know that Tim Duncan played lots of center during this decade, I and almost everybody else consider him to be a power forward. Now that that’s out of the way, back to Duncan. Duncan was coming out of his prime during this decade, but he was still very effective for the Spurs. While Duncan got slower and less agile, the fundamentals and the sheer talent and wisdom was still there and he was still one of the better big men during the 1st half of this decade.
Despite Duncan being drafted in 1997, Duncan was still a 4x All-Star during the 2010’s. He was a 3x All-NBA Member and a 3x All-Defensive Member. He also won a ring in 2014 with the Spurs.
Duncan averaged 14.7 points and 9.2 rebounds with 1.8 blocks. He shot 50.2% from the field.
While Duncan was not the dominant force that he was in the 2000’s, he was still very good. He was a key piece to those 2013 and 2014 San Antonio Spurs that nearly repeated as champions. Duncan’s retirement was a surprise, but it was the most Duncan-like way to go out. Quietly and without much glory. Duncan is widely remembered as the best power forward to ever play the game.
#2 – Anthony Davis
New Orleans Hornets/Pelicans, LA Lakers
AD was the up and coming star in the 2010s. Drafted #1 overall in 2012, Davis has been the best power forward in the league for at least 5 seasons now. Davis was often overlooked as a star because of the team that he was on. A beast, sure. A proven star, not yet. After his trade to the Lakers, Davis finally got to show the world what he was made of on a championship caliber team. The only problem with Davis has been injuries so far as he tends to miss 10-15 games a year. But, he has still proven to all of us that he is a superstar in this league on both ends of the floor.
Davis was a 6x All-Star and made 3 All-NBA Teams and 3 All-Defensive Teams.
Davis averaged 23.7 points and 10.5 rebounds with 1.4 steals and 2.4 blocks. He shot 51.7% from the field and 31.4% from 3.
Davis is an elite inside force and an elite defensive stopper. Now that he is on the Lakers and with the NBA return coming soon, we get to see AD in his first deep playoff run.
#1 – Giannis Antetokounmpo
Milwaukee Bucks
I know that this is a little controversial, but he kind of deserves it. But this is the first list where the #1 is truly debatable. But, Giannis has been eerily similar to AD during his time in the NBA.
Giannis was a 3x All-Star and he made 3 All-NBA Teams and 2 All-Defensive Teams. This is almost the same amount as Anthony Davis, and yet Giannis only started his peak in 2017. But here is where Giannis separates himself from AD. He gets this monster year and leads the Bucks to 62 wins and an MVP award for himself. AD could never do that. While Giannis had some better pieces than AD ever had with the Pelicans, it wasn’t a super team. Giannis was the heart and soul of the best team in the NBA last season.
Giannis averaged 18.8 points and 8.3 rebounds with 1.2 steals and 1.3 blocks. He shot 52.1% from the field and 27.7% from 3.
Giannis had a quick come up to one of the best players in the league today, and he is now one of the best two-way players ever. Giannis will continue his reign into the 2020’s with the Bucks, but the only question is, can he become an all-time great?
What do you think? Who would be on your list? Who deserves to be at #1 more, AD or Giannis? Leave all of your comments down below.
