Wizards Punch Ticket To Play-In; Dallas Tightens Grip On 5th Seed! 5.14.21

It’s a Friday night of NBA basketball and we have 8 games on the schedule tonight.

Cleveland Cavaliers vs Washington Wizards (105-120)

Next Year

This team is headed for another lottery. They are paying Kevin Love $31.2 million. They have a lot of problems. I don’t know how the Sexton-Garland backcourt will do and feel like Garland is the guy who can become their actual guy. For Sexton, I don’t know how much better a pure, undersized scorer can get. Jarrett Allen is nice, if Isaac Okoro can shoot 35% from 3 he’ll be very good. But the Cavs are a team without a direction. This should end well.

Playoffs

The Wizards get their play-in birth clinched and they are currently 10th, 0.5 a game behind both the Pacers and Hornets. So the Wizards can move up depending on how these last few games go. Another triple-double for Westbrook but the key is getting Beal back. I hope that he can play in the play-in, as this Wizards team might be the best team in the play-in, based on how they’ve been playing as of late. Everybody else is meh at best.

Denver Nuggets vs Detroit Pistons (104-91)

Easy

Denver cruises to win while resting guys like Millsap, Gordon, Dozier, and Campazzo. Triple-double for Jokic, 20 for Markus Howard, 15 for Monte Morris.

Denver gets to a tie with LAC and they are now the #3 seed.

Tanking

What the title says.

Orlando Magic vs Philadelphia 76ers (97-122)

Tanking

What the title says.

#1 Seed

It was a little bit of a struggle, but Philly redeemed their free win card and clinched the #1 seed for the first time since 2001. Yay. Hopefully you don’t run into the Lakers.

Utah Jazz vs OKC Thunder (109-93)

Easy

Got Mike Conley back and you won easily. Hopefully Mitchell can return for the playoffs.

The Jazz have 1.5 game lead for the #1 seed in the West.

Tanking

What the title says (I am going to keep saying this).

Toronto Raptors vs Dallas Mavericks (110-114)

Toronto Raptors

Season over

Dallas Mavericks

Winning, cool. Dallas solidifies their 5th place position, 1 game ahead of the 6th seeded Blazers. The Mavs also avoid the play-in entirely as they are going to be a top-6 seed in the West this year.

LA Clippers vs Houston Rockets (115-122)

Resting With A Purpose?

No you might say, losing to the Rockets, resting guys, now you lose the #3 seed is dumb, right? But here’s the biggest brain play ever. Now LA falls to the #4 seed and I doubt their guys play in the final game. Now they can’t play the Lakers in the first round. It’s not like they’re scared, but no Lebron in the first round is generally a good thing.

Luke Kennard played 41 minutes, Serge Ibaka is back which is great for the playoffs, just so Lakers. Big brain.

Tanking

What it says up there.

Sacramento Kings vs Memphis Grizzlies (106-107)

Sacramento Kings

Lottery here we come (I don’t care you lose by one or that Louis King had 27 points, I don’t care).

Winning

No Morant, Brooks, or Valanciunas. Not bad, not bad at all.

The Warriors won so the Grizzlies are tied with Golden State, with the Warriors as the 8th seed and Memphis 9th. The 72nd game of the year, Memphis vs Golden State with decide who gets that 8th seed.

New Orleans Pelicans vs Golden State Warriors (122-125)

New Orleans Pelicans

Season over.

Golden State Warriors

The Warriors almost lost this game but a score from Jordan Poole gave them back the lead. With no Curry, Draymond, and Wiggins, they needed this win with Memphis winning early. Toscano-Anderson blocked Alexander-Walker’s 3-PT attempt and a great save from Kent Bazemore sealed the deal as the Warriors get a big win thanks to Poole and Mulder.

Golden State had won their last 5 games and they are 8th, tied with Memphis who is 9th. Golden State vs Memphis on Sunday chooses who gets the 8th seed.
